Bus Beheading...

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Lol. It may be black humour, but it is still humour!

I graduated from Virginia Tech so I'm a bit cut and dry on innocent killing issues.

The murderer has given up his rights to socieity and life and spending one dollar feeding him in jail is a waste to me. With many witnesses, there is no excuse and he shouldn't be breathing.

If someone tells me that someday he may turn himself around and council children or cure cancer, my answer is I don't care, too late. The guy at VTech is dead and I sleep better knowing it. This guy should be dead too.

If you are on death row after your 1st Constitutional appeal, Good night, and I'll gladly help.

Are we allowed to discuss this? If so, I'll gladly jump in for the anti-capital punishment team, but I have a feeling that it is dodgy ground :hmm:

+1.

I'd gladly pay $10 to charity to swing a hammer into the perpetrator's skull, but killing him will provide no chance for any answers.

Once he's been questioned, and understood as much as can be expected, then maybe take his arms and legs off and let him sit and think a few decades about what he's done. Killing him would just be giving him an easy and exciting way out.

The problem is that it would be our tax dollars paying for him to think. **** that noise, I'd rather have him dead.

As a taxpayer I get what you're saying, but I think it'd be a net economic benefit as a true deterrent vs. the usual watch-TV-and-network-with-other-criminals-until-you're-set-free-way-early-despite-the-light-sentence-to-begin-with sh##stem that we're paying for now.

Anyway, if that's your biggest concern of tax money going to waste, I suggest you've set your sights too low. Or maybe people would offer donations? I dunno. I'm sure we'd need to pay less guards and for less food if the truly dangerous ones were set up the way I've proposed. Or we could repeal the stupid prohibition laws, thereby putting most organzied criminals out of work, plus save tens of millions on the related court and prison costs which could then be used to take care of true criminal dangers like this nut.

It costs more to execute someone than it does to incarcerate them for life.

Got any statistics to back that up? I imagine hanging the guy/putting a bullet through his head is going to cost less than providing him with 3 meals a day, paying the guards, etc. No doubt he would be let out early too. I don't see how anything short of the guy dead is a good use of my money.

I read about the story this morning. Random cold-blooded killing is much scarier than someone going angry and stabbing someone else. I don't know if I'd dare try to stop someone who doesn't even seem to care about his own life.

It depends on where you live. I'd first remove the plasma screens and gaming consoles from the prisons, then think about comparing costs.

A bus load of wussies.

My first reaction too. The guy who started to usher people out who was sitting just in front seemed like a pansy, like, come on, the guy has his back to you, grab something heavy and hit him over the head.

But then I put myself in his shoes...hitting the guy probably would've pissed him off, thus turning him around and attacking other passengers on the bus. Attacking him would've been a stupid move as more people could've potentially been hurt or killed.

Should be allowed to carry handguns in Canada. Yeah, yeah....it could be argued that the lunatic may have had a gun. 1) I'd rather be shot than stabbed and beheaded. 2) I'm of the opinion that badguys will always have guns whether or not it's illegal 3) the wackjob should be executed in a meat slicer....feet first.

Death sentence is far more costly due to the extended court proceedings, appeals ect. It's not about just taking them outback and dispatching them, as it should be.

Great, then he could have opened-fire on everyone at once and many would have died. Wheeee !

1) I'd rather be shot than stabbed and beheaded.

Good thing you've got it narrowed down to just these two choices. Most people face this decision often, so it's good to have it thought out in advance.

Me, I'd rather have a fighting chance hand-to-hand if it comes down to it, rather than blown away by a coward who won't come face-to-face.

Yet this bad guy had no gun.

It wouldn't surprise me if the people on the bus had attacked him, and I might well have done so too. No idea to know how you'd react to a real live horror like that out-of-the-blue though. But I can't imagine what a wild gunfight would have added other than to make the tragedy worse. Geesh, as if a long-distance bus ride isn't bad enough on its own!

When posting I knew that it was fortunate that that nut didn't have a gun. It coulda been way worse. All things equal no one knows how they would react in this kind of situation, hopefully no one will.

I don't condone the idea of an eye for an eye but I do embrace the idea that decent people, within the scope of the law, should be able to defend themselves and their families. This is a can of worms in itself here sooooo..... If wackjob had gotten off the bus I'd hate to imagine that someone might have to subdue him with a hammer or a crowbar if he were to attack someone else. Again, I don't want to debate gun laws or carry laws.
