Butch…another walnut build.

Good luck on your walnut build. Doing a great job! Such skill and expertise!

May I share a walnut build that I did about 20 years ago?

I made the body myself from 2 glued pieces of walnut. Cut, shaped, routed, inlaid figured maple pickguard. Hardest wood working project thing that I ever did! Had the most basic wood working tools. Basically a band saw and a router and loads of sandpaper.

Warmoth fretted neck, no fret dot markers.

Knowing what I do now, I could have done a better job.

I did some finish sanding today. Of course there are imperfections…but I’m sure I’ll be modding it sometime in the future.
The neck came in too…a quick mock up.
I’ll be putting some oil on it soon…
Yea, there’s that near fatal error in the control area…the mortised control plate covers it completely.

Hot dang, love that maple pickguard against the walnut. That's lovely.

Forearm contour is a little aggressive…but ok for me.
Tummy contour isn’t enough but will do for now…
Knowing me, I’m sure I’ll be doing mods down the road.
Sanded to 220 grit. Union break…for the rest of the day….

The hardware is coming in piece by piece…

The PU’s should have been ordered a long time ago…I predict the bass will be done before they arrive.
