If it's a new American Standard, it's an 08 model, regardless of when it was built. (or at least untill the 09's come out in a few more months)
There's a small chance that you'll get one that was built very late in 07, but it's still an 08 model.

Thomann sells them. The one in this link is a 2008 Model American Standard Fender Jazz bass even though the add doesn't specify. It has the high mass vintage bridge and new SKB case.

Any particular reason that an early production American Standard , manufactured in very late 07 would be undesirable?

Mine happens to have an extreemly low 08 serial number, and I can't imagine one that was built a day or two before it would be any different.


ADDED: The first few new American Standards I played had late 07 serial numbers, and were absolutly killer basses by the way.

If the description says "HMV Bridge (high mass vintage)", then it's a 2008. (Experts, correct me if I'm wrong.)

There is a relatively small chance that it could have an 07 Serial Number, as production on the new American Standards started before Jan. 1st of 08. The first few new American Standards I played had 07 serial numbers.

I honestly don't know why that would matter to anyone, as it's still technicaly an 08 model, but the O.P. seems to have a preferance for something built in 08.

If it's that important to the O.P. I guess that requsting one with a serial number that starts with Z8 is an option.

Most likely that's going to be the case anyway.

ebay. the seller usually lists the bass as "american standard" or "2008" which is a good indicator.
