Buyers beware!!!!

2) I think the only person naming the seller should be the OP. I followed a hint earlier in the thread and came to a totally different conclusion to will33. This is dangerous territory.....

California based, and a cab model called 212PL. Sounds like will33 is right to me, but it's a shame if he's not of course.

Anyway, IMO the seller don't have much to me ashamed of in this case.

The OP pretty much disclosed the seller himself when he posted correspondence in Post #2 identifying the cabinet in question as a 212PL.

Yup this is how I figured it out, and if you go to the site and click on 'custom' you'll see the refund policy right near the top.

My hope remains that any rational human reading this will see that the seller went above and beyond to satisfy this obviously disgruntled customer.

It's nice that the seller sent the buyer an upgraded replacement cab. Maybe I'm funny, but when I order something I like to get what I actually ordered.
As for the folks who say "sell the replacement cab to get your money back"... c'mon, some people don't have time to waste buying and selling cabinets they don't want.
The purchaser has every right to be upset. He received damaged goods and then an upgrade he did not request in the least. Why some people think that is a good thing is a mystery to me.

Same cabinet with upgraded drivers.

Sounds like buyers remorse to me, too.
He found nothing wrong with the cabinet after it was returned. Maybe a scratch?
Wow. Shoulda took the offer for the replacement cab. Then you could have posted what a great guy he was and all would have been like it was supposed to have been.

I don't like reading stories like this. Feel bad for both the seller and the buyer but at the end of the day the buyer knew the score. No refunds or returns on custom cabs...I am assuming they are all custom cabs...could be wrong there. Not sure why the OP changed his mind either. Hopefully cooler heads prevail and the buyer ends up with a cab in one piece.

I think the return policy should've been made clear, on the phone or in an email as that's how the purchase was made, when he was buying what qualified as a "custom" cab and not just posted on the custom order page, but other than that, it seems an alright deal. One arrived broke, it was replaced with a working one with no shipping expenses to the buyer. He had agreed to do the "gift" payment thing as a way to avoid fees and get a bigger discount. If he didn't want to do that, or if he wanted some other specific model of cab, he should've said so and just not bought the discounted one.

I don't see how this entire thread would be of any value to anyone but a vent-fest for the OP if the vendor is never disclosed.

Now honestly, the CS explained here wouldn't stop me from buying a cab from said vendor. But I tend to allign more typically on the pro-business side of consumer protection type cases. A very high percentage of disputed credit card charges are bogus money grabs by people with buyers remorse or the like. If "people" think businesses are liars and cheaters they should look in the collective mirror. "People" as a whole are lying, cheating, stealing do-no-gooders.

That is not commentary on the OP at all. IN this case I am kind of split... The OP was blindsided by an inconspicuous return policy, and i believe noticed sufficient issues withthe delivered product. I do however think that replacing said defective cabinet in a timely and cost-free manner is a generally acceptable sollution.

I'm sorry the seller has been named. I'm also sorry such a simple issue seems to have been blown out of proportion. Sure, paypal rules are meant to be honoured, but I think what the OP and the seller were doing wasn't intended to defraud the company, more like the nudge-nudge-wink-wink kind of white lie. At any rate, it's not as bad as cheating on your wife, even though that's legal and this wasn't.
Seller did his best to make amends for the damaged cab, I think it was a more than fair offer, at least to me. At the same time, rubbishing the OP for demanding his money back instead of a replacement is wrong. People aren't alike, to him, having a working cab from a builder he clearly admired for the gig he was playing was important.
It does strike me as ridiculous that he would refuse the replacement. I'm sure stuff being shipped gets damaged all the time. I remember this Loopholic 5 pedal switching system i ordered from Korea. When I got it, there was a huge 4-inch scratch on the bottom surface. Product worked, so I didn't file a claim or anything -- the builder was really helpful in keeping the price down nudge-nudge-wink-wink, even though we never even talked about it (great guy, sadly no longer in business. His product was ahead of the Musicomlabs development cycle by far) -- but you have to expect stuff like that.
You guys live in America, I appreciate the laws you have about buying stuff and having the liberty to return it within 30 days for a full refund, etc. I've heard of guys that buy equipment to record albums and return it after, which is disgraceful though. Imagine a company struggling to stay afloat or being unable to hire more workers because they're stuck with too much factory-seconds inventory. I'm glad the seller offered a more than fair replacement, I don't think anyone should use this post to make decisions on buying from him. Not a fanboy (as someone mentioned earlier in this thread, hmmm), I haven't even heard of this builder before.
Still, feel sorry for the OP. Wouldn't it be great if the builder reads this and just gifts back the money to him (even minus shipping), given that the transaction was illegal ;) At any rate, he shouldn't be out of pocket for the entire fiasco, getting some of the cash back will go a long way toward restoring the pride of both parties. Policies or no, we all gotta adjust sometimes and this was one of those times.

PS: This seems to be happening a lot on TB. Someone complains about someone else without naming them. If I bought something used from someone here and got ripped off, I'd name them. But the fear of being burnt is motivating me to buy new, from a store. Hoo-yuck.
