Buying a new bassguitar

Well hello,

Anytime soon I want to buy a new bass, but I have nooo idea what kind of bass. I can spend like 250 Euro's, thats about 350 Dollar, Most of the time I play with a pick, and I play punk/punkrock/ska the most, anyone has any suggestions on what kind of bass I should buy?
Thanks in advance!

Well, it depends what you like. P-bass type neck, J-bass type neck. And what sound you are looking for. The best advice is to go to your local music outlet and try as many basses as you can to see what fits your style and what feels good to you.

That being said, look into Ibanez, Yamaha, Peavey, Fender MIM, Squier Vintage Modified Series, just to name a few brands that are in your price range. Also look at used basses, you can get more for your money if you know what you're looking for.

In that price-range, for the biggest name-brands, I think you'll find that Yamaha and Ibanez generally have better fretwork. Squiers can be good, but you have to know how to evaluate the workmanship.

Labor is rather expensive, and a cost minimized on low-end instruments. Good fretwork, which is needed to get good low buzz-free "action", is very labor intensive.

Well if you want something cheap like 350 dollars you can go to any instrument store and look for a yamaha or washburn personally i think they sound great even they are not a expensive one. I recommend you the most the Yamaha i have one and is very good and another thing i dont recommend you to play with a pick i used to but that way you will never learn how to play nicely (best bassists NEVER use a pick)
