Buying used on TB and making payments?

I see nothing wrong, if the parties agree to the terms - when to expect full payment, how many installments, etc. But I do not think you should expect a seller to automatically agree to your terms. Some might be selling because they need the cash ASAP. Others might be too busy to keep up with where the buyer is with his installments. All you can do is ask, and be fine with a yes or a no. But to be honest, you'd pay asking price. There'd be no price break in such a deal.

This is what I would use. I wouldn't want to ask a seller to trust me to make monthly payments.

I don't know the OP's situation but maybe he's too young to have any credit history and he can't get a Paypal Credit account. I don't even remember how that works. Do you automatically get Paypal Credit when signing up for Paypal?

Anything that makes a transaction easier to complete is the key. If it's something a line is forming for, that's one thing. If it's something that only a certain kind of buyer even cares about, then that's quite another. I'm not going to jump through my anus to accommodate the sale of something perfectly mundane. Either buy it or don't. Selling gear isn't really my business.

I've had that happen on eBay, usually with sellers who are very busy. Wouldn't hurt to massage them once asking if they wouldn't mind taking a moment to do that for you.

That's probably the best option.

I've let people make payments to me and the vast majority of the time something comes up and I'm stuck waiting. I don't release an item until it's paid in full and get a non-refundable deposit. Still, it's a PITA.

No automatic enrollment ... you have to sign up for PP credit in addition to having a basic PP account, which i did, and got :thumbsup:

OP is nearing 50, but looks 30, & acts 20 sometimes :smug: so asks more mature bass brethren for advice on some matters.

I'm gonna edit the initial post to reflect that it's been worked out. Can't wait to plug this puppy in! Will probably be posting a NewCabDay thread soon too! :bassist:
