Sorry, I can't stand it when people post there personal problems on their business web-site. As consumer, this guys personal problems are none of my business. If you can't fulfill orders, man up, send the money back and apologize. No need for the sob story. Everyone has personal problems, including myself...if they interfere with my work, I'm not going to send a company wide email so everyone knows how crappy my life is. Just be professional, that's all I'm saying.

Also notice how he blames everyone but himself...the cops, his brother, state of MA, Paypal...whatever pal.

Glad I never bought from this guy

Given the history and volatility of Brian's posts on this forum, I'm inclined to think that there is more here than the sad story of victimization presented on the Buzzard site.

I couldn't really care less either and think its bad business also. I'm not giving the guy a bye either way. If I had something on order, I'd be ticked off and want my product or my money. Try giving excuse to an employer and see how quick you'd be fired.

...We certainly can't know what really happened, but the implication of that "sectioning" law does kind of tie in with his past blowups here on TB, and the "I wuz framed, I'm innocent!" nature of his story there about what happened to his business.

Yet another armchair lawyer opinion:
(that means i'm not a lawyer!)


I don't think that law is as extreme as people are making it out to be. As I read it, it briefly states that

- if certain associated people (family, police, doctor) think that a person is a self-destructive alcohol or substance abuser, they can petition the court for a hearing on having the person committed for rehab
- after receiving the petition and sworn statements, the court shall schedule a hearing. The abuser must appear at the hearing. If he does not, he will be brought in for it. (Just like any other legal hearing.) (Also he will not be brought in except directly for the hearing. So no one is being locked up at this point. And if the person simply appears as required, there are no police involved.)
- if, after testimony at the hearing, it is determined that he is a self-destructive abuser, he will be sent to rehab at a mental health facility; if there is no room there, he may be sent to the mental health unit at one of the prisons, but shall be treated and housed separately from criminal inmates
- treatment can be up to 30 days. It can end earlier. Person may voluntarily elect to extend the rehab.

None of this is anything like this guy's claim of "any person on earth can lock you in prison for no reason." And it has nothing at all do do will confiscating a person's property or throwing them out of his home.

It seems there is far more to the picture than has been stated.

Agreed with pilot, its not like they can just lock you up for no reason. The piece that seems to be missing is what the testimony and judge's decisions entailed. He may feel ripped off by it, but obviously enough evidence was presented to admit him after the hearing.

If you guys are peeved at this, check out your own jurisdiction's "committment" or "certification" laws. These ones in Massachusetts aren't very draconian in my view. Especially when compared to others I'm aware of...

I agree with PJ's summary and it's apparent disconnect with the guy's stated reasons for incarceration.

It does not change my opinion of that particular part of the law - basically, anyone can haul you into court based on nothing more than their own opinion of your personal situation. Then line up a bunch of lackeys against you, their word against yours (and any friends you can get on your side). Borderline Stalinist.

Its not much different in DC - I know a very nice responsible couple who got hauled into family court because their infant woke up in the middle of the night screaming, with nothing apparently wrong except a bruise on his leg. They figured he must've got it jammed into the crib somehow, but went to the ER to make sure it wasn't broken - but they could not explain how the kid got the bruise since he was just lying there when they found him. Some ER nurse/doctor pushed the right button, and they end up in court for 3 days calling in friends to testify etc just to prove to an overzelous system that they weren't abusing their own baby.

While I understand posting personal problems on a business site isn't the best idea, when it comes to someone like Brian who is a one man show, something like that completely shuts down your entire business for the duration and he feels he owes his customers an explanation as to why he suddenly fell off the face of the earth. I understand that.

He also usually has somewhat of a personal relationship with his customers that he does work for (maybe not so much ones that just order parts). My bass is one of the ones he was working on before all this happened. I know I'll get it eventually. I'd probably be more upset if it was something I actually had a lot of money into, or if I really needed it for something soon. Fortunately not, so I'll just see how it turns out. If he was intending to screw anyone over I doubt he would have resurfaced on the same website and everything.

I wish I had seen these threads regarding Buzzardsbass.com. I ordered a couple of things from him and he sent an e-mail saying the items have shipped. I have received nothing and I even contacted the manufacturer and they said they never received an order from him and that they can't even contact him. I've tried to e-mail him and got zero response! Actually, I did e-mail him previously and questioned why not have the manufacturer drop ship to me (he said they ship to him and then he to me) and he responded in a way that if I was right there, I may have popped him in the mouth! Even brought up no related things like how many days are in a month! Say wha??

Well, let's see. . . along with your order yesterday are 4 others. Do I put
it on them to ship 5 orders in 5 different directions costing them 5 times
as much for shipping? Then multuply that by how many days in a month?

I ordered a few items a month or so back. One included a 5 string labella set, which he said, after taking the order, that was going to be an extra 5 day wait, since he had to wait for it to ship to him. I was anxious for the strings, and was pretty ticked that he hadn't mentioned this prior to my order, thus delaying my order a few more days. Also, was told that if I didn't want them, I'd have to pay for them to be restocked.

All in all, I got my items a few days later, 2 days sooner than expected, actually. And after receiving the items, got an email from Brian asking how everything worked out, ect. He seems to be a little backed up and trying to get back on his feet. Regardless of his past or whatever, He seems like a legitimate dealer, though he can act fairly rude sometimes.

Crap. I wanted to "one stop shop" so I ordered all my stuff for a Geddy Mod (Hipshots and pick guard) from him. I was going to use Brian (BBG) but he was backordered and he doesn't have pick guards. I hope I get lucky and don't regret this. At least its only a couple hundred - not an entire bass or something.
