Cab advice for GK 1001rb

Sorry if this has been done before but a search didnt turn anything up. I need a cab powerful enough to handle my newly aquired 1001 (thanks DougD) and I would appreciate some advice. Ive got about 500-700 dollars to play with. My band plays classic and alt rock like hendrix and pearl jam. Feel free to PM if ur currently selling something that might work. Thanks dudes

stay away from GK speakers, but for that money I would buy a used ampeg 410 or you could even get a used 810 for that money, and with all the wattage you have now!!

yah lol, but I actually Love Glockenklang!!! But for his price range I like the way ampeg sounds with GK. And there are so many used ones around I think you get the best bang for the buck with them.

RBH - Ported
RBX - sealed

So the RBX will sound more like the ampeg cabs, vintage cabs... RBH will have more deep lows. For rock, hard, metal, etc, the RBX is probably better. RBH for funk, slap, pop...

I have a SBX410 plus, it is awesome. I believe the RBX is its new incarnation.

IMO, the 410+ is the best GK cab. I have one, wanted another, difficult to find...

You might want to consider 2 Avatar B-212's or a B-212 and a B-210 both combos would be in the upper end of your price range.

I'm assuming you're in the U.S.

I pair my 1001RB-II with a 410 and 115 SBX. Sounds nice. I don't think they are made anymore. If you stay with GK cabs you can biamp and use the tweeter.

The GK isn't very fussy about cab's. I've run mine with Avatar, Music Man, SWR and Bag End. It sounded good through all of them. Personally if I were out looking for a new cab, the only things I would look at would be neo, lightweight cab's. As a single cab, the Avatar 410 is hard to beat for the money.

Two 2x10's is a nice modular setup. Take 1 for small rooms, 2 for large. Split them to each side for a little lower volume when you have FOH support. Stack 'em on end for better monitoring and fewer hot & cold spots than a typical 4x10 out front. So a pair of Avatar 2x10's - ones with the second generation neo drivers if you go used - would be a nice sounding and practical setup.

NOTE: in your OP, you mention 'cab powerful enough to handle ' not to be preachy but that's maybe not the right way to approach it ... You've got a powerful head. There aren't many cab's out there that you can dump that kind power into without smoking something. Those that are, are not real efficient in general. So watch that Woofer control (Master Volume) and listen to your rig as you bring it up - turning that beast all the way is a sure way to have your credit card smokin' as you order replacement drivers.
