Be VERY careful, the Subway amp can easily destroy a 4 ohm Scout cabinet.View attachment 3891851 View attachment 3891852 I have the 4 ohm version and it’s killer, but when I want to push more air I take out the head and power my Subways with it!!
I’m sure it could, that’s my Walkabout powering my SubwaysBe VERY careful, the Subway amp can easily destroy a 4 ohm Scout cabinet.
To be clear, IIRC the "output jacks" on the WA heads were each labelled as 8 Ohms (with something like "Suggested Load 4 Ohms" shown as well)...this amp labelling does not tell you anything about the speaker in the WA Scout combo in terms of whether it's 4 or 8 Ohms. A quick test with a multimeter should tell you which you have.Thank you, Chef. It looks like an 8-ohm. I bought it off the shelf, so I didn't order it. As I said, the output jacks are labelled 8-ohm.
FYI...the "off the shelf" combos were all 4 Ohm. 8 Ohm was always a special order. Further....the manual that came with the earliest ones did not specifically recommend against loads <4 Ohms. That pearl of wisdom was dropped later.
Hi all. I am sure it has been asked before, but I couldn't quite find what I am looking for answer wise. I apologize if this is redundant.
I just took delivery of a Scout 12 4 ohm Walkabout combo. Oh my God I am in love. The tone of this thing with the vintage vibe of the cab is just off the chain. I really think this is going to be my number 1. Ultimately I'd like to pair it up with Mesa's extension cabinet, but that seems unlikely with availability of them. With mine already being 4 ohm I am going to have to do more reading before I add an additional 4 ohm to it. All of that being said I may look for a larger than 212 cab to put this with. Maybe a 610 or even a Fridge. What are some really efficient cabs like this, but will not color the natural sound of this head or even maybe a slightly vintage feel? I am going to plug this into my drummer's 1969 Flat Back SVT on Sunday and I just can't wait! I have Avatar cabs (a 212 and a 126) which sound good, but I kind of want to step up into great cabs. Thanks.
I measured the static resistance of the speaker at 4.1 ohms (it varied between 4 and 5 until I got a solid purchase on the jack). So. I'll be careful with the volume. Good to know! Definitely watch the volume on that single speaker and I would strongly recommend not doubling with another cab unless you replace that driver with an 8 Ohm version.I measured the static resistance of the speaker at 4.1 ohms (it varied between 4 and 5 until I got a solid purchase on the jack). Let me clarify. I love the combo as is. I honestly am shocked at how loud it is and fills the room. Certainly can be used in lots of situations. What I am thinking right now though is running the head alone with larger efficient cabs.
