Cab-less, anyone?

Since I started using in ears I could go cabless. I put my amp as far back on the stage as I can. I don’t hear or feel anything from it. All of my bandmates still use wedges so they like hearing me through my cab. I use a Berg NXT 12 so not like it is big or heavy.

That's great if you stand in a 3' x 2' square during the whole gig. If you are actually performing and putting on a show it's not going to cut it.

I play in a large church setting and the day I'm running around on stage and "performing" for myself is the day I'm no longer doing this. I'm no statue on stage by any means, but the Bass Board accomplishes what it needs to do in the space that I'm provided. I also use it when I'm practicing to get that big rig feeling while staying relatively quiet. The small version works perfect for my little space and I've never felt confined. They also make one that is about 4' x 3' for those needing a little more wiggle room. Though, I wouldn't exactly call it anywhere near as transportable as the small or medium version. There's also no rule that you absolutely have to stay on it at all times. Play, run around, come back when you need it, etc.

Convinced my 3-piece to go ampless about 5 years ago (I also run our sound). Simplifies load-in and set-up, while providing the audience with a better experience (balanced and eq'd mix, no point sources except drums), with better mixes for us (individual, no bleed over). Mipro wireless for IEMs; mains over subs, so no lack of low-end (and still bring subs to supplement house PA when necessary).

Miss the 8x8 visceral thump, but getting the same mix ANYWHERE on stage, (esp. vocal harmonies) is worth it.

I love being cabless at church but going cabless for a show with my non church band usually means carrying in my heavier pa sub setup. It does sound better for the audience though.
