Get the 810. No such thing as under-powering a cab.
I've used my NV412 at jazz/blues gigs where a 1x12"could've done it. Simply turn down.
Yr biggest "problem" is carting a big cab & to me-& by the sounds of it, that ain't a problem for you.
Imo, ya can't beat the sound of an Ampeg 810. My 2c

Ime, ya can't beat the Berg NV412.
It all depends on what you like.

Yeah, right. Nothing except a Super 215 or 1515/66 which will both crush any commercial 810 or 412.

Unless you need to blame the room or PA for your lack of playing ability, then you need all those DEEP lows to cover it up!
Myself I enjoy that every note gets heard and enjoyed.
No 810 for decades BTW.

I don't use an 8x10. But they have their uses on stage for covering the limitations of the player so the engineer can get a reasonable mix, rather than a muddy mess because someone can't understand the concept of multiple low end sources causing cancellation.

It will be alright; the world won't implode if someone prefers a cabinet design that is different than your favorite cabinet design. I've played the Ampeg, the Eden, and the SWR. They're all excellent cabs with different sounds and different tonal goals in mind. There are trade-offs with each cabinet. It's all about weighing the trade-offs to get the box that will most meet your needs and goals. The OP got the Ampeg and it's obviously meeting his needs and goals.

I agree, more paper moves more air; there's no substitution for that. Get two 4x10s, use two when needed, and one when your back is hurting.
