Hey TB. I wrote a book. I hope someone will read it.
I've come into a couple grand that I would like to partially use for a pair of cabs to go with my SB300. Currently, I run the SB300 with a Player Series P-Bass with a 63 pure vintage coil, through an Avatar B212 with the Eminence 12s. I absolutely love the way it sounds, but the weight of the B212 with the headroom limitations is becoming a bit of a drag. Since the head itself is capable of 2 ohms, I am considering one of three configurations which I will list below.
I play punk rock with a grindy tone in one band, and more classic-rock eagles-ish stuff in the other band using a P Bass the whole time.
1. Two Markbass NY122 enclosures
I like this idea because I can get a cart for all of it, and I can use one or both for modularity. The cabs are wide enough to accommodate the head on top of them in a couple of different ways. This configuration features the most speaker cone surface area, but probably not ideal dispersion if they are next to each other. The head can handle two ohms, so this setup would work fine. I thought about the GK Neo 412 but it will not fit in my Civic. the two 122 cabs will fit in the car with my bass and the Super Bassman and the cart. Also would be loud. Very loud.
2. Two Fender Bassman 115 Neo Enclosures.
I like this because it is modular, lightweight, and the aesthetics match the head really well. I also get a heavy discount on Fender gear which makes this setup and setup#3 more attractive. This setup features the best speaker dispersion, but sacrifices about 100in^2 in cone area versus the 4x12. This also probably taxes the head a little less considering the 8ohm rating, and may offer the highest properly-dispersed SPL ability. This conclusion is not something I can back up with figures, but rather with rhetoric.
The only thing I really have a hard time getting over with this setup is the fact that it's 15" speakers, and not 12s. The longer speaker excursion is the main concern. But considering the styles I play, it may not really be that important to get the upper definition of the 12s.
3. One Fender 610 Neo
I like this option because the people who have the 610 Neo seem to absolutely love them, and it features a lot of speaker area. My concerns with this setup are: box size, dispersion, and handles. Like I've said, I drive a Civic and fit is important to me. The Avatar B212 barely fits in the trunk, and a 610 is much longer. The Fender 610 is the same depth as the avatar, but is about 13-14 inches taller. I am not sure that I would be able to fit the 610 in the car, except maybe in the back seat and even then it would be a very tight fit getting in and out. There are no side handles, which would complicate loading and unloading. This is the option I am the furthest away from, just because of the pragmatic issues. Also I do not traditionally like 10s, too much mid and not enough sub. But cab tuning and other things can make up for that.
Curious about opinions. Thanks!

So, 1/4 if it.
