CakeWalk users: are you staying with it or migrating?

If you're a Cakewalk by BandLab user you might know by now that they have officially announced that it will become a paid DAW again after several years of being a free download. It will be renamed back to SONAR, as it used to be 10+ years ago.
For now, you don't have to worry about your daw not functioning as it should, or being deactivated. CakeWalk will continue to work as usual, only thing is it will no longer be supported after the new two paid versions are released later this year. No more details are known about these, either being paid by monthly subscription or full price as other DAWs. Still have to wait for more information on that.
In my particular case, I've used cakewalk since the last versions of Sonar, which was bundled with other software in my very first audio interface. I have quite a few projects written/recorded with it, and now I have to choose between buying a new daw or pay for it.
Honestly, I'm not a fan of renting software, I prefer to pay full price, if possible (meaning being affordable). So the Subscription model is definitely not in my interest.
I've been looking for prices on other daws, and Studio One (Pro version) has caught my eye, has good reviews and I think a better work flow than CbB. So I'm here wondering what you guys out there are thinking.

Well, that sucks. I've not used Cakewalk intensely, but whenever I need a DAW I tend to reach for it.

The Subscription plan (if this is offered) is definitely not in my interest. However, a rent to own plan might be worth trying if the total cost is not higher than the other known daws. IMHO.

I just started learning to use Cakewalk. I'm with @Passinwind, I will use it until it breaks if they go with a subscription model. If the cost is <= Reaper, I would pony up the dough.

What subscription price are people comparing to Reaper? I don't qualify for the discount price on Reaper. Which is fine as it is still a great DAW for the commercial price.

I will check out Cakewalk Next when it comes out. I suspect it is going to be lot more $ than Reaper Commercial license, but also may have some features I'd like in a "Next" generation DAW. Reaper could however quickly catch up if there is some new feature in Cakewalk Next that Reaper lacks. Never know.

A new license includes free upgrades through REAPER version 7.99. There is only one version of REAPER. The license price depends on how you use it.
$60 : discounted license.
$225 : commercial license.
You may use the discounted license if:

• You are an individual, and REAPER is only for your personal use, or
  
  
• You are an individual or business using REAPER commercially, and yearly gross revenue does not exceed USD $20,000, or
  
  
• You are an educational or non-profit organization.

Rent to own would be fine, as actual ownership would result (and yeah, provided the total cost is not higher).
