I hate this one too. Pure passive-aggressive snark.

"I'm just sayin'"
They ruined a perfectly good rugby word.![]()
I'm hearing weather people referring to "active weather" meaning something in the solid or gas state will be falling on us.Just heard the weather reporter talking about "snow activity". It's snow. Why add extra words to describe a simple thing?
I guess "snow inactivity" is when it's piled up in my driveway.
Another one that blows my mind is paying for an instrument that has a relic job. That's like earning your black belt in martial arts and washing it in bleach a few times to make it seem as if you have been a black belt for years.
Character marks comes from your experiences with the instrument. Anything else is like a girl with fake (○)(○) (you get the picture),....simply put it's just fake.
I have mixed feelings on this one. On one hand, you are totally right, buying a 'relic' is certainly not as cool as doing the relic job your own naturally, however, on the other hand people like me almost never gig out and just play for our own amusement but at the same time think the worn out look is awesome. If you think it takes a long time to develop that nice patina through gigging, imagine how long it takes doing the same in a bedroom!
A quicker way would be to buy a new nice looking bass. Before going home take it to an old country road with lots of small rocks and dirt. Tie a chain around the bass and drive dragging the bass. I believe a quater mile will work nicely. Half mile if you want the Jaco look. " I hope you get my humor.
Another way would be to drop it off at a daycare with a note to play with bass on concrete patio only.
Wouldn't that make it just as fake as the relic version? None of the scrapes, gouges, and bruises would be due to gigging the bass the natural way, and your only story would be "yeah, I drug it behind my truck".
Didn't see many adverbs there. Do you mean adjectives?Another one is when someone tries to sell a bass and use every adverb in the English Language to drecribe it.
"This baby plays amazing, with fantastic action, and silky smooth feel, and an amazing growl in the lowend, with crystal clear highs, and sustain that last forever, etc, etc." Sounds like a pimp trying to sell his ugliest hooker on a Saturday Night.
....but...but... Aromatherapy really works! That is, it makes you momentarily think you feel better when you really don't."Aromatherapist" and "Holistic Medical Practitioner".

Lavender does make me sleepy, though.Oh geez, this reminds me of my boss at the last place I worked. *Everything* could be fixed with one essential oil or another according to her. I'm sorry, but when I'm a couple of days into a gout attack and not able to type with my left hand, a little bit of clove oil isn't going to do anything except piss me off because I don't like clove.
Lavender does make me sleepy, though.
That Rose, though, man, she's got some hips, I just wish she'd keep them out of my tea! (Rant: "herbal tea" ain't tea if it don't contain tea leaves. "Herbal infusion", fine, but only tea is tea, imho.)Me too, until she ran off with Rose.....![]()
