Calling all Ibanez experts!

This morning I bought this on ebay:

I've played Ibanez SRs before and I love the necks, not a huge fan of the electronics put I'm working out a has-sound harness to pop in there.

What I'd like to know, is whether or not this was a good deal. I think that what an excellent price considering the construction quality and woods etc. but I have no clue as to the actual "value" of the instrument.

I know that the current Ibanez SR1005 prestiges go for £1,000+, but this is older with different hardware and woods.

Would you think the bass is genuinely "custom-made" as the inlay suggests?

Any info I could have on this bass or any of the series from around this era would be really helpful.

I guess for the price its not bad, but I'd rather get a NEW sr1005 because it comes equipped with bartolini's, and better aesthetics.

That must be an old sr1005, because that definately does not look like a current model.

Agree on the electroincs. Mine sounds great unplugged, but never really popped through the amp with the stock electronics. I dropped a set of active EMG's in mine and now it sounds tremendous.

Well the electronics aren't a problem, a whole new passive system's going in that should sound wonderful.

IME it's actually a high price. I've seen 90s Fujigens going for $500 to $600 in general. However they're worth far more in playing value, so while the price is relatively high it's still a steal for the value.

I have a SR3005 which is made very similarly, with the same woods in the neck and body. Unless I am mistaken, mine even has the same pickups, and they sound surprisingly nice. the description he gives in the listing is pretty good: "midrange woody punch".

If it is indeed as close to mine as it looks, you will be very happy.

The custom made was on about everything from that time that was a little better model.

Nifty marketing ploy by Ibanez you see 100s of people saying it was ordered from a custom shop etc when it was just a normal stock item.

As for the price I dont know what that converts into USD. But Ibanez's have probably the best bang for the buck playability wise, and the worst resale value of all the big names.

If you consider how much basses cost here compared to the states, the ratios work out, so it's probably about as good as it can get.

Price set aside (as others have already stated, what costs 350$ in US in EU costs 350 Euros...or more; yes, it sucks, but what can you do), that Sir is a killer bass! Good deal! I'm seriously thinking of buying one too...we'll see...

Trust me, we pay ALOT more over here.

What costs £1 over here costs $1 in the US. (very roughly speaking).
