I like the same neck whether I'm playing finger or pick style; whichever is comfortable and looks good.

My Nate Mendel P came into the post office yesterday. Can't pick it up until Thursday. It has a rosewood board.

I've always preferred rosewood on Precisions and maple on Jazzes

Not sure how fretboard wood affects the picking hand... unless you have a highly original picking style over the fretboard!

My P is the first guitar of any kind with a maple board. Can't say I feel different about it over the rosewood on my other instruments, it's just what was on the one P bass that sang to me when I played it. In fact I don't think I even feel a difference when I play, because my fingers are... on the strings!

It's nothing more than an aesthetic choice. Whatever you think looks better is the correct answer.

Maple necks look good with the normal Fender headstock, of course, I just don't like rosewood unless the headstock matches the body. Of course, there are some basses with rosewood headstocks, so...

I don't think it makes a difference. Both my P basses have rosewood. But I want a maple neck one just cause I like the look. And I think slapping on a maple P bass is a think of beauty.

I have had my 71 P for 40 years, used to use flats with a pick, then went to rounds and fingers, now have tapewounds on it. All good.

I'd have 2 P basses, but not different fret boards.

I'd have one with flats and one with rounds.

'66 Precision with '72 maple Jazz neck, almost always fingers. I like carrot cake.

I was always a Maple board with a P-Bass guy. I think it's one of the basses where the board can make a difference to my ears. Just adds a hint of snap and bite. However, my go to P-Bass right now is a 2006 MIM P with a Rosewood board. Best sounding and best playing P I've seen.

That being said, I also have Peavey Fury with Maple board. But I just rotate between those and my Jazz Bass. I choose pick vs fingers based on the song, not the instrument.

Like a fool I sold my P last year, it was damaged, bruised, hurt but it played like a dream. So i decided I didn't need it anymore for stupid reasons. Maple with a pick and/or fingers, always song dependent.

Before spring I'll get another P, I'm actively on the hunt.

I prefer the look of rosewood... but both of mine are maple. I don't play with a pick. On has Ken Smith Slick Wounds and gets most of the playtime. The other has D'Addario Chromes which I have loved for a lot of years, but these Ken Smith Slick wounds sound wonderful. SO much so I have another pair on the way.

Like Tim said, two Precisions are a fine idea. But the fingerboard choice is not the issue - they are too similar wrt sound. However, if you had one with rounds and one with flats. Then, you would maximise the tonal choices from a Precision.
