Calling Hohner owners?

So I was looking and I noticed there is no thread for Hohner  owners. So how about any hohner bass owners come out of the woodwork and post your basses.
I'll Start Green Hohner bbass V bridge upgraded to Schaller roller bridge and now has passive Carvin stacked humbuckers.

So lets see all your hohner basses. :D

Think so. All I could find was some things about parts or repairs. And I love the bass the jack basses look so nice I've always wanted to try one. The string spacing looks just a tad to narrow for me though. I'm always fumbling with the narrow spacing.

I picked up a BBass 4-banger, natural, on local CL for 60$ on a whim. It needed strings and a tuning machine. I put some strings on and stole a tuning machine from a fretless ibby I have and don't play. It's now the bass I play all the time now.

It's still missing the fine tuner on the E-string (pretty sure it's stripped and that why the tuner is missing) but I'm quite alright with tuning using the pegs. Also, I think there must be a way to set the amount of drop on the drop lever on the E-string but I can't find any info on that. Maybe it has something to do with the missing fine-tuner on the E-string.

Anyway, I really like how it balances using the lower strap location, the neck plays very nicely, and I really like the sound through my rig with the active eq on and the bass and treble almost all the way up. I like to get different tones by changing the way I strike the strings and this bass seems to really respond well to this approach with a wide range of interesting tones. Occasionally, I might roll off some highs or roll-off some bridge pick-up to get a particular sound but, for the most part, I leave the tone alone.

I'm really surprised these aren't more highly valued. Materials and construction seem very high quality to me.

Music is a hobby for me but, one of these days and when I end up with a little mad money, I am interested in trying a different preamp and, perhaps trying different pups, but for now, I am really having fun with the old Hohner.

Here's a Marlin by Hohner P-Bass I got from a charity shop for £25. The original white pickguard got painted over in a rather regrettable black with white trimming and silver sparkle sort of deal so I replaced it with a nice black one. It went through a good clean/set up and now the thing sounds awesome :D

Had it for so many years (1989?) bought it used. Always love the way it feels and plays, just never crazy about the pickups. Just ordered DiMarzio PJ set. It's really a beauty, all black and the neck is all worn and comfortable. I'll dig up a pic and send in.

Great to see this thread!

Bought my B-Bass V in '95, and loved it so much I played my other basses and kept it pristine! Then a few years ago, I thought it was time to use it or lose it, and the tone was always a bit bright for me for some reason...so fitted proper EMG pickups and preamp, turned it to fretless and fitted D'Addario Chromes...now it's awesome, light, great tone, low action and stays in tune. Brilliant.

But...next mod is a new bridge, as the original is slowly bending up from the body - anyone else having/had the same issue?

AG42 mine had the exact same problem and the action was too high it looked like someone had replaced the saddles with ones too high on mine. Anyway I replaced it with a Schaler roller bridge. The dimensions were the same. You'll need to drill new holes though.

Great to see fans of these basses. I bought a BBass 4/natural in 1990. It was stolen a few years ago, and I replaced it with a BBass V. I also removed the frets. Any favorite strings? I tried LaBella flats, but didn't like them. I'm going back to rounds, unless I can find a better sounding flat. I think they are too dull. I usually use stainless rounds.
