Which P?Some say a PJ even with the J completely off still doesn't sound exactly like a 4-string P *shrug*
Which P?
I went to a used music store to get a Fender P bass. I tried out about 8 of them, all MIA. They all sounded different. There isn't 'A' P bass or 'A' Jazz bass or 'A' PJ bass.
What constitutes 'good'?Guys help me out here.
Can a 5 string PJ every be as good as a 4 string P?
For example.
Mas Hino NYC 5 string PJ vs Mas Hino 4 string P / Olinto P / Fender Vintage P
Pedulla MVP 5 string vs Fender P (expensive one)
Roscoe PJ vs Fender P (expensive one)
I picked some high end PJs just to make sure that the basses are all on the same or close price range. of about 3000-4000 bucks.
Can a 5 string get that classic P tone or will the mass in the neck and body not allow it?
Thanks for all information in advance.
What constitutes 'good'?
I generally prefer Ps to PJs and think that both 4 and 5 stringers have certain advantages.
5s mainly for reading gigs as one more string means one has to shift positions less often.
4s for comfort.
'fragmented'?Good as in usable, not fragmented, and still have that distinguishable P tone.
