It's tough but i think you can, I've made some awesome life changes that were so hard and seemed impossible, and it often involved changing things that weren't clear to me at the time.
I know for sure it helps if you have some supportive people around to help guide you in the right direction. I think If you really love someone you'll accept them for who they are AND who they want to be, even if they are addiction/mistake/crime/GAS
