I have these strings on a P Bass and love everything about them. I put them on a while ago and can't remember what they were.
Can anyone identify them? I am thinking that they could be LaBella Deep Talkin Bass.
The ball ends are all gold.

How old would they be? They do look like La Bella based on the winding lengths on them, the E being shorter than the other three, but they appear to be roundwound. I don't think La Bella has had silk on their rounds in awhile.

If I had to guess, I’d say they’ve been on the bass for at least 2-3 years. But, I suppose it’s possible that I bought them 8 years ago or more. I am guessing LaBella because I used Deep Talkin rounds off and on.
I can’t even think what else they might be, because they don’t feel like the other sets that I use and can identify.

Thanks! I edited my post above. I realized that I might have had these in the package for a while before I put them on. That’s a shame that they were discontinued. I might try to buy up a bunch of NOS sets if they’re available. Is there anything else similar nowadays?

I've never tried the DTR, and my experience with stainless steel rounds is not extensive enough to make any recommendations. That being said, I do like the GHS Super Steels that have been on my Yamaha BB435 for the last month. Not zingy bright up top, but they do have a punchy presence in the mix with some bite and articulation in the midrange; I might actually describe them as being "deep talkin'". ;)

My favourite strings ever, over the past 45 years of playing bass.

I've been trying to locate a NOS set in short or medium scale for years now, no luck. Hopefully you'll do better.

Nothing sounds like DTR. I've fallen in love with Stringjoy custom sets, which are different from La Bella but great to my ears and under my fingers. YMMV.

Good luck.

When I restring I always put the package in the case compartment so I can remember what I used.
I gotta start doing this. I’ve been searching the house for two days to find a LaBella package to no avail.

And in addition to putting the package, or portion of, in the case, I also annotate the installation date.
And another brilliant but ridiculously simple idea.
