Can anyone identify this bass?

came across this ad for a Dean bass....but I don't recall ever seeing one of these. The headstock does not look like a Dean bass that I've ever seen, and that cut out in the top of the body, I'd definitely remember seeing that. Does anyone know if this is a legit Dean bass, or anything about it?

Yup, looks legit to me, I remember those, and that's one of the rarer Dean headstock variants (have one similar on a Dean acoustic I have). No clue what year / model though sorry.

I had a five string version of this bass for a brief time back in the early 90's. I know I have a photo of it somewhere. It's the only bass that I've ever owned (and I've owned quite a few over the past 5 decades) that I can't remember its model designation. Here's a photo of it.

EDIT NOTE: I just checked and the OP's bass is a model DB-91 and mine above is a model DB-95. Both are in the 1993 Dean product catalog.

Do you have a copy of the '93 Dean catalog?
