Can anyone identify this bass?

Someone has this for sale in my local Facebook marketplace, and I've never seen a headstock like this before. The body almost looks like a peavey, but the knobs appear to be p-bass. Maybe a custom?

Can anyone help identify this bass?

This is a blind desperate guess, but I wonder if the "OV" logo is for Ovation? I know they dipped their toe in electric basses in the past, but I don't remember anything like this.

I thought there same thing but an image search on Google doesn't show any ovation basses with that logo.

I'm actually starting to lean towards a custom found in attic after Grandpa died or something, but the form factor and the materials/color seem waaayy too modern for a "found" bass.

Also, is it OV, or VO?

I think the logo on the bass from this post is different from those Ovation used for its electric bass guitars.

In that case offer $150. It might be a great bass or it might be a piece of junk. But unless he has any idea of the specs/maker, he’s not going to get much money for it.

Oh, I'm not trying to buy it... Yet.

Just trying to find out more about the brand. That might be enough to start researching the brand as a wholeb but for right now, I'm just trying to find out where to start the research. If he's sitting on a diamond I might try to make a move, but there's probably a good reason I've never seen one like this before!

There is an OV guitars, and a builder named Paul Vo... I looked into them a bit but didn't see a match.

True that. In any case lots of stuff on this bass--the mother of pearl, the end of the fingerboard, the knobs--suggests it was made by a company that usually makes acoustic instruments.

Same! Kramer and Peavey were my hits. Reverse image search is NOT perfect lol.

Definitely, I think that's what makes the top so bizarre looking... It's all... Correct? But off, somehow. I kinda did it. Very ugly duckling!
