Can anyone really play LIKE Jaco?

The funny thing is, IF you showed up and played like Jaco on most any other gig, you'd get run off fast.

But you must understand,Jaco played what was appropriate for the music.
He was a chameleon.

He played more when it was needed.
And less when it was needed.
Most W.R. fans know this.

Bass solos and soloing are very common in many genres, such as jazz, fusion, and funk.....we just happen to be on TalkBass where a great many older players play classic rock, blues, and related genres where bass soloing is less common.........the problem with conversations like this one is many players think the entire musical universe revolves around the subset of genres they listen to and play. This isnt the case
