can someone "dumb down" this song for me?

I love the song "I want you"(shes so heavy) by the beatles but there are big chunks of the song I cant play how it is called for. I can play the epic and never ending outro, the chorus and the fills but i cant play the verses how they are tabbed. Can someone dumb it down for me, I just need to to sound right and be simple it would be a great help to me. Heres a HD version of it and yes I know its from rockband lol

do you mean you cannot adapt timing to tab because there are no stems on them or are you unable to read notation dots....i have a notation transcription here if that will help...

yes timing is a problem and i cant read music so i can only use tabs

dont hate man, im a beginner, i dont know what the hell im doing so im asking for help. just like anything else if you dont know, ask.

Elgecko's not hating man, it's just a strange question that's all :)

Pick out the specific exact part/s and the exact second at which they happen, list them and I'll see what I can do, working them for you, but put exact time frames by the second. Laterz.

in the the link i left its 0:34-1:48, 2:26-3:14, 3:48-4:28 that i cant play i can play the rest but I just can't play the thing as its supposed to be played.

O.K Dude here's what I see, - you'd have to play pretty much every note, fill, and the slides, they are intrinsic to the feel of those sections and the track. There's no real dumbing it down without losing the interest/feel that the bass track provides, it's creating the feel in the sections, the Macca way.

Tabbing it, I would have to write in the rhythms of what's happening over the tab notes for the parts/fills/slides to provide you with a clear picture of what's happening there. As a beginner as you have stated, I think you may not find this of great use, you would have to be competent with rhythm reading. This is the problem with tab, no rhythm value's to guide what's happening and where.

I think the best approach is - I vid the sections as played and slow them down in tempo, so you can see everything that's happening and where on the fretboard, hear it slowly, get the fingerings, the slides and inflections etc.

I think it's the clearest and easiest way to view/hear/pick it out, rather than hit you with the notated rhythms involved on paper.

I'll try and upload the parts in a couple of weeks, maybe quicker depending, I'll do my best. Until then, forget the tabs and practice with your ears a little, this will serve you well in the future too. Leave it with me, I'll do what I can with it to make it easier/clearer for you to pick up, and let me know if this method is good for you, 'cos on paper, I think you'd have a bit of a harder time with it ; )

Everyone's gotta do it, take your time, working on your ear is of great value. I'm not a fan of Tabs, some are so inaccurate they do more harm than good imo. I'll try and bring this upload forward if time allows, no worries ;)

I get to record this Friday as arranged at the moment, I'm afraid due to lack of time, I will have to record the complete track end to end in real time, with the visual emphasise on the fretboard so you can see the positions and fretting for this.

I think the whole track would be a better perspective rather than 'chunks', anything you need to ask, we can analyse and discuss in time frames so I can give you the fretting/whatever. There are some tricky timing moments in the track, but we'll address as we go along, no worries. Hope this is O.K. for you ;)

Skitch It! is a fine member and he's doing a service to you that back in the day (late '70s; my back in the day, anyway) would probably cost you two hour lessons. I think it's great that you are pursuing tunes you love (and I Want You (She's So Heavy) is a great one), but maybe you should try to master some easier material to ground yourself in the basics of basslines. This will hopefully train your ear to recognize intervals and chord changes so that you'll be able to cop more of the bass parts from records.

I Want You is one of Macca's better bass parts, and while not terribly difficult, is something that I waited a couple of years to tackle back in the early 80s.

I dunno. Skitch is giving you a big freebie on this, and you have thanked him many times, so good on that.

Here's the news, the recording is set to Monday due to the Media Suite being used today (I'm recording it at the place I teach), so I'll try and upload the same day. In other news it's taken me 4 hours of listening, analysis and playing to 90% nail everything in the track, I can see the parts you would have a problem placing, the high fills were trickyish to pick out and time exactly, but they are done, as are the rest of the fills in the track ;)
