for my bands rehearsal. we play loud as a band. for vocals only though. speakers are JBL 15s which I think can handle 300 watts continuous.

can someone reccomend power amps for me?

Seriously, just about anything will work. Buy used and locally. You can find some stellar deals on "lead sleds". The power of the deal is in your hands as new lightweight geat can be had for $400-500.

If you're talking vocals only, 300 watts per side will get you into take-no-prisoners, instantaneous feedback territory with ease. Don't get caught up in catalogue hype- at those power levels, 50 to 75 watts more or less doesn't make a meaningful difference.
The latest Crown XLS and Peavey IPR power amps will get you into the ballpark for about $300 brand new, and they weigh less than 20lb. So don't pay more than that, unless you're thinking about future-proofing your rig (in case you get bigger speakers in the future).

Given the competitive pricing on new power amps, it's becoming increasingly difficult to justify the repair of older gear in my PA rack. I've been lucky so far but some day....puff!

quality wise? Any difference now a days? Is crown still kick butt? Is behringer legit with its ratings? My cover band has a Behringer that is supposedly 1200 Watts and it doesn't seem any better than my 100 Watt TOA from 25 years ago. (Which i bought new).

There are a lot of really good manufactures out there. You can take your pick of Crown (except the older CE models which were discontinued) , Carvin, Peavey or QSC and be just fine. My personal favorite is QSC. They build outstanding power amps, have an excellent warranty and have a great reputation for reliability. One of the regulars on Talkbass (Bob Lee) is a QSC engineer.
I have owned dozens of QSC amps. I owned a fleet of PLX & RMX models and have used a GX5 in my bass rig for 3 years. I never had a problem with any of them.
