Can we talk about marijuana?

So do you, like, ferociously attack substances users the second they enter your field of view and are easily reachable? I, for one, would find that hilarious and worthy video tapping for a national TV show :D.

I do believe he once talked about throwing an ashtray or hitting someone over the head with an ashtray if they blew smoke in his face at a gig. I don't remember the exact thread but it was a year or two ago. So if IRCC then you aren't that far off.

I think what he meant was we have open discussions about using a substance that is illegal in the USA according to federal law, but if someone started a thread about stealing cars or robbing peoples homes, that would not be allowed. I can see his point.

As I said, it's an international forum ;)

It also seems that things are changing (slowly) in the US, with some states allowing it on medical grounds, especially when some of the medical grounds, on which exemption is granted, are pretty laughable.

It's not like stealing cars is ok if you have a condition :p

every time someone has a problem with something someone says, its regarded as trolling and moderators swoop in like the swat team to make sure no one gets upset.

theres nothing "adult" about drug use. its childish and stupid. im pretty sure talking about stealing cars or breaking into peoples' houses would get a thread closed. yet, drug use is TOTALLY okay. tired of seeing it. if im going to get infractions for words that arent censored, i dont want to have to see people talking about their illegal drug habits.

Easy solution to ease your anxiety...don't read the thread.

I enjoy a toot, and have held down a decent profession my entire working life. I have a happy, healthy family and have never once been even remotely tempted to bang anything up my nose, pop a pill or stick a needle in my femoral artery.

One thing I have found over the years, is that pot smokers fit into practically any demographic you care to mention. The nephrologist that saved my daughters life was a lover of long weekends in Amsterdam. :)

By the way, I did 35 in a 30 zone today. I am therefore a criminal and await my arrest.

.
The war on drugs has been a complete failure.

Not for the groups that get funding to fight it. It's big business. Their lobbying is part of the reason why it's still illegal in many states. It would be interesting to compare tax revenue for a local jurisdiction versus federal/state funding. One benefits a few. The other benefits the entire jurisdiction.

trust me. you dont want to hear it. the last time i expressed my views on the drug culture, i got an infraction. i dont drink, i dont smoke, i dont take anything stronger than ibuprofen. no nyquil, no tussin, no opiates, no tylenol.

either way, im not getting into this. my views get threads closed and get me in trouble because this an incredibly drug tolerant forum. i want that changed, and im sure im not the only one.

And you know what, that's great for you! But just because you don't agree with drug usage doesn't give you the right to deny all people from using drugs if they so choose to. If this is a hairy subject for you then stay away and allow (hopefully) mature and fruitful discussion to remain without your random tidbits that do nothing but stir the pot and put bad feelings into the thread.

You know, its not so much what you say, its how you say it.

Aside from being a hardcore straightedge, you come across as being a very angry person. :)

Hmm. Given his aggressiveness without any provocation, I could see this being true.

Yes, all done and paid for by the us government to keep us in control by fear based propaganda.

Oh, and how about Harvard University doing studies and concluding that marijuana kills cancer cells, not make them dormant but actually kill Them. Then Yale University showing studies that shows marijuana treating mice with aids. Now it hasn't been studied on humans as far as I know but that's pretty damn good outlook.

Have bogus scientific studies been brought in yet? I'm too busy to go back and see every post.

How do you decide which studies are bogus? A pot smoker waxing lyrical about studies endorsing the health benefits of dope, while dismissing studies that found harmful effects as bogus, could be accused of trying to make the facts fit their desired conclusion. This is fairly obvious and I'm sure there's a good answer but I don't know it.

I'll repost this....

This is the Canadian Senate Report on Illegal Drugs.
The conclusions of the report can be found starting on page 35 of the summary.

And if you would like more reading... there is the 1970 Le Dain Commission Report. That was an even larger study. Which came to the same conclusions... 41 years ago.

But that study found there can be risks associated with usage....and was a study on legislative framework more than medical framework.

I only believe facts that are presented. Not one of you nay Sayers have been able to find one shred of evidence that marijuana is bad except for the actual smoking of a burning plant. It must be nice to think one way and then shut your mind off completely. At least us pot smokers can keep an open mind and look at both sides.
