Someone should make a J with a (slightly oversized cavity) movable bridge pu (from 60's to 70's position) so this would seise to be an issue.![]()

That's an SX, but mfr is not what's important about it. I wired it so that I can choose either coil individually, or both in series or parallel, plus I can put whatever I have chosen in the bridge pup in series with the neck pup (normally they are in parallel with each other). Maybe not exactly placed at 60s and 70s position, but it's close enough for me.

Yes, very subtle but possibly only to the extent that no two instruments sound exactly the same.
Definitely can hear a slight difference. Not sure if it's the pickup spacing or just variations in instruments, though.
I couldn't hear a difference but then again I couldn't notice a huge change when they introduced New Coke.
