Can you please help with this Tune Maniac bass

Hello guys. I saw at a local shop a Tune bass (used one). Don't know much about them. So the bass is a TBJ41, they say it is made in Japan. What do you think,is it? How much this old Japanesse basses cost? Here is a picture.

As far as I remember the Bass Maniacs were just made in Japan. There was a strange situation where the builds moved to Korea
and after the Japanese designer died the Koreans claimed he gave them the rights to continue building them.

When they came out in the mid 80's they were high end basses and cost around £899 in the UK that would be $1800 back then.
The Korean Bass Maniac is back on sale for $390 just now but I can't vouch for the quality except I'd think they will be well made.

Suffice to say if it was this one for sale

I'd be swimming the Atlantic right now to buy it.

Comparing the re-issues and the one you pictured I'd say it is indeed a Japanese one but I'm afraid I can't help with
a price for it. Sorry.

I had one and sold it last year. Nice instrument but mine was kind of dinged up. Very well put together vintage Japanese bass. I wasn't that keen about the huge Maniac logo on the bass either (I don't need to advertize that ;-) . If you can get one for $300 in good shape I think what would be fair price. The later Korean versions are not as good in my opinion.
