In my case, the longer I play one particular scale the longer it takes to switch but if I play different scales on a regular basis it takes no time.

Jack of some, master of noneTsk. All this dedication, and the time consumed to pursue it. Now I know the basis for that line "No time for the Killing Floor" in the Guess Who's "No Time." No time, indeed!
When playing in a live act, I’m always trying to minimize the possibility of mistakes, so I usually commit to one or the other for the duration. Switching back and forth messes up my muscle memory just enough to increase the chance of a catastrophically terrible clam, especially during a big position shift, where I’m not looking at the neck.I just scored a cool old bass that I posted about here

I'm already playing a lot of notes 1/2 step sharp because of the fret spacing.
Can anyone play both scales? or must one commit to a scale length forever?
Wow, never thought about this. I switch all the time. Now I'm gonna mess up!
As others do, I play 23, 25, 30, 34 & 41” “scales. Moving back and forth is just another mental exercise, easier than changing tunings, for instance. What’s hard for me these days is a four hour gig on a long-scale or heavy bass.I just scored a cool old bass that I posted about here

Exactly. Multi scale 33-35.5, 34-37, 28.5, 30, 34, 35 it's all the same for me. Stop thinking about it and just do it.I can and do switch between a 35”, a 34”, a 30.7” and unlined fretlesses. No problem. Oh, and a 25.5”, 24.75” and 27” guitars. And 13” violin. And full sized and narrow keyboard keys.
just play it. Your brain will do the work.
The key is to play both very regularly in the beginning. I alternate between 34 & 35 all the time without issue.I just scored a cool old bass that I posted about here
