Canadian Basses...

Is that a short scale?
This bass is 34" scale, however Dave has made some amazing shortscale Danelectro inspired basses in the past that are unreal to play. Imagine a higher end Dani with a sturdier neck and into stable bridge, but yet different than what Jerry Jones was building at the time. Can't say enough about Dave's craftsmanship and how easy he is to work with. All around great dude!

Canadians don't know what "Canadian Bacon" is. We just call it ham here.

Hi Canadian bass lovers - can you help me? Slightly off topic - I'm visiting Vancouver and Toronto in the next couple of weeks - can you recommend me stores to visit with a good selection of basses?

Pretty limited pickings in New Zealand (only big brands imported - and typically a limited selection of models - Fender, MM, G&L, Ibanez, Yamaha, Warwick, Squier, Epiphone) so keen to try some great basses that I read about on TB but have never seen in person - Sadowsky, Ken Smith, Roscoe, Elrick, FBass, Dingwall, MTD, Lakland, Lull etc, as well as higher end models from the big brands.

Can you help me with recommendations for bass stores in Vancouver & Toronto? Sorry for the slightly off topic post!

Long & McQuade Vancouver on Terminal will be awesome. You can even research what basses they have at that store online.

I would suggest getting ahold of George or Marcel Furlanetto and meeting them at their shop in Hamilton, Ontario if you want to experience an Fbass.

If you want to try a Sadowsky, Club Bass might work in Toronto.

If you want to try a Fodera, try contacting Dave at Ultimate Basses in Guelph or Dan Coniglio at Long and McQuade Markham.

Someone mentioned Fury Guitars in Saskatoon.
The owner Glen passed recently- these guitars are collectors items because the company will cease to exist.
He had some incredible technology in these guitars and was ahead of the curve sometimes years before fender and Gibson caught up. Made his first guitars in 62.
His basses may appeal to short scale lovers because all of his basses were 31.6 scale length and only made four strings.
His drop D tailpiece design is so incredibly innovative, it's a surprise no one thought of it before.
It is common knowledge to those in the know that dingwall PU's were largely designed by Glen.
Fury designs aren't everybody's cup of tea but world class instruments they are; all built by one man with high integrity.

In Toronto you might want to try Tundra Music, quite a good selection.
