Thanks to T Bassman for my surf green Reimer (previously mentioned/pictured). Somewhere along the line before it came to me, the original neck was swapped for this beautiful fretless (it was made by Reimer - the logo has just been removed). Killer bass.
Nice to see you on here Scott! That fretless neck is unreal too! I had Dave shape it to my specs at the time. It mated really well with that body and pup combo so we swapped em' out.

I've played many Godin basses, but as much as I want a Canadian company to have great basses, they just never moved me. I have also owned and played several different FBass models, my favourite of which was a VF-5 that sounded ridiculously fantastic but was so heavy I couldn't wear it. I have now played a Dingwall Z3 (in my page ID) for 1.5 years...totally everything I could want for tones, comfort and style.

Dingwall (x3).... and had a Godin Shifter Classic 4 (really liked the tones and feel - sold it due to the gross factory colour). Fbass are a bit too body big for me personally, but love the shape.
Dingwalls will be with me for a very very long time. :)

I have been playing my Godin Freeway5 for 12 or more years. It has an excellent active eq and produces a good range of usable tone. The only drawback I have experienced is the sudden death of the battery. I always have a spare but it does disrupt if it has to be changed while playing in public.
I live in the UK, but bought the bass during a trip to Montreal because I could not find anyone selling the Freeway5at home. Freeway 4s were available on line in Europe, but not the 5.
Naturally I recommend this instrument as a dependable work horse.

Being a Canadian, I'm embarrassed to say a lot of these names are news to me. The only basses I knew were Cdn are Lado & Godin.
Check out FBass Welcome | F Bass, Inc . You generally don't see these hanging in stores. They are very high quality custom made instruments. You will buy it for a little less if you go through a dealer. I'm having a 2nd FBass built using UltimateBasses.com through whom I've already purchased my 1st FBass. I also understand that Long & McQuade is also a dealer now. Perhaps you can inquire the next time you visit your local store.

For the best samples of FBass in action, search YouTube for clips of Alain Caron.
