Candy Cola P bass case smell?

I currently own 3 of the new Fender SKB cases. Two of them have no real distinguishable smell. My 08 Candy Cola P bass on the other hand has a distinct smell of either cherry or strawberry (I haven't figured it out yet). Has anyone else owning a new Fender Precision, Jazz, Stratocaster or even Telecaster come across this pleasant oder?

It's pretty cool because while I'm playing it stays on the bass and smells really nice :smug:

I bought a used '90s Rickenbacker and noticed that when I played it, there was a pronounced smell, almost like vanilla but not that pleasant. Finally figured out it was the case - apparently the glue can put off fumes. Unfortunately, mine smelled like a combination of vanilla and cat urine! I used Febreeze and put it out in the sun and it seems to have gone away.

Glad yours smells good! Cherry Coke!

That just reminded me of a guitarist friend of mine back in the day who had a really nice new Kramer Baretta. While playing his brand new guitar, his male cat sprayed the open case. He never could get rid of that smell completely!!!

I bought an American deluxe Jazz in 97 that had that sweet smell your talking about when pulled from the case. I played that bass for 6 years and that smell never went away. It would just recharge when you put the bass in the case! My American 62 on the other hand smells like paint when pulled from its case, I wish they'd use the same glue in those!

I got my hands on a bass with a case that smelt like spit. My first thought was febreeze and sun too. Did not work. So I took two drier sheets threw them in the case then proceeded to throw the whole case under my parent pool table. I let it sit there for close 2-3 weeks. That killed the smell.

I wish it was a sweet smell. The OP should feel lucky.
