Candy Cola P bass case smell?

I realize this is an old thread but it is the first thing I found that explains the smell to my new 62 Reissue P bass. The case smells like sweet vanilla. Every time I show my bass off I make them smell my case too. It is the best present when opening to play my bass. My memories of bass will forever be linked to this amazing smell. Fender is genius.

I currently own 3 of the new Fender SKB cases. Two of them have no real distinguishable smell. My 08 Candy Cola P bass on the other hand has a distinct smell of either cherry or strawberry (I haven't figured it out yet). Has anyone else owning a new Fender Precision, Jazz, Stratocaster or even Telecaster come across this pleasant oder?

It's pretty cool because while I'm playing it stays on the bass and smells really nice :smug:

its maple, like maple syrup, from the neck.

I bough a brand new G&L L2000 this year and the case also smells like awesome vanilla.... My band mates love it when I open it at rehearsal.....
