Cannabis

While I enjoy having fun, my fun has a point. Much of the time on TB people come into a thread to argue. They don't want to reason, they don't want to discuss, the don't want to even read or listen. They just want to state their 'set in stone' opinions and then go back and forth with talking points.

We've all learned very well from modern media and how people interact on a macro level...no one stops to read or listen to what anyone else says.

It becomes an intractable situation. No one's going to change their minds.

I substituted a single word, and then had two pages of people arguing for something that no one wants to argue for. In that time I repeatedly pointed out the joke and had a few other people playing along as well. I even used the BIG font. And it wasn't a single person, but multiple people who charged in head first.

That's what we're up against here.

Pretty proud of humanity right now. It's not just the specific users even, this is people in general that this applies to.

This thread will likely be stricken, but I'll post my opinion first. Pot is a much less dangerous drug than alcohol or nicotine. Period.
It does not lead to the big, bad junkie unless one is already so inclined. Gateway my arse.
There.

Anyone who says otherwise hasn't ever ingested the plant, or is just plain ignorant.

Truer words have never been spoken. Ever.

Due to alcohol, *clears throat* I have broken my wrist (had surgery, now I have 2 titanium plates and 9 screws in me; wrist will never be 100% strength), broken up with girlfriends (beer goggles), gone walkabouts and had all my friends worried sick, gotten furious over nothing (Ouzo) and embarrassed myself more times than one can poke a stick at.

While high, nothing bad has ever happened to me.

You're not motivated enough to jump off cliffs (wrist), walk miles to a chicks house, or do anything stupid. But the biggest positive of pot over alcohol IMO is violence. Think how often you see on the news about someone getting brutally bashed or raped because of intoxication, then try and remember the last time you heard about someone getting violent when high on pot.

IME, pot makes you appreciate the small things in life; you eat a bag of chips, it's like Jesus has been resurrected and is having an orgy with Jolie and Fox in your mouth. And sex? Not. Even. Describable.

Cannabis First off, let's try to not get political about this...
That's one the funniest things I've read all day! LOL! Thanks for that.

Seriously, if you want to talk about cannabis and NOT be political, then the other option is to be medical. My advice is not to read a bunch of blogs and psuedo-science trash written by potheads. You could read research done by medical professionals and that might be a good start; however, even that is debated (too easily, IMO) by the unlearned.

Go to the University and take Anatomy & Physiology. If you have the motivation, also take Microbiology. Wouldn't hurt to take an Intro to Psychology course and/or a Lifespan Development course and learn about how drugs affect the brain's functioning and cognitive development. THEN, after learning how the human body works, decide whether or not you think cannabis is "harmless" to the body. If you're sincere about wanting to understand this stuff, you have to get educated on it. It might sound like a big, expensive idea to take some college courses like that, but what's the alternative? The alternative is to be an easily influenced puppet of other people's beliefs and ideas on it.

IMO, it's not enough for it to be less harmful than alcohol, tobacco, or even cocaine. To me, that's like saying getting shot in the head is less painful than burning to death...the end result is still the same, though. You want to know IF it's harmful and HOW harmful is it...I say come at it from a medical science perspective, but educate yourself so you can read the medical research with some understanding and not just get pushed and pulled along by someone else's viewpoint simply becuase they make it sound good. You want to know the science. Knowledge is power.

I can name one.

But I can name a whole lot more who died from cigarettes and alcohol abuse.

You should probably use drugs as a coping mechanism..

Just kidding. But i'll be willing to bet that is what plenty of people do.

A relative of mine went to jail for armed robbery years ago (He was a heroin addict), turned his life around in jail, learned a trade, really set things straight. After been out of jail for a few months they sent him a bill for something like 20 grand "Victims of crime", something to do with repaying the trouble he cause essentially. Now, for most people who have just come out of jail, no job, no money, no employability, how do you make 20 grand real quick??

There not interested in rehabilitating you, its the money that matters.

Really? How did weed cause his death?

Yeah life is full of catch 22's.

Like this scenario, you get laid off, fall behind your bills, go into collections, apply for a job to pay off your debt, can't get job because of credit rating.

I think it should be legalized or at least decriminalized, but I realize that will never happen due to the amount of people that are currently employed in the prohibition war against it. Can you imagine if it were suddenly legalized nation wide. All of the DEA agents, police, corrections officers and so on that would be out of work. Not to mention all of the people who would be released from prison early because of time already served. It would be an unemployment and economic Armageddon.

I don't smoke the ganja. Not because I'm against it or don't want to, but because I run the risk of being fired if I do. Even if it were legal my employer could fire me or refuse to renew my contract because he is personally against it and I live in a "At will" state.
