Cannabis

With you on that one! Have you ever used a genie vape? I've yet to, but for size and price they're interesting, heard mixed reviews though.

I usually make my own cookies or brownies, would love to try making hard candy.

Ive used various types of vaporizers, but not a genie vape. Personally, I prefer smoking it to anything else, unless my throat is sore.

You guys must not be from around here. Ya see, medicinal pot is already legal here in California. Most of our stuff no longer comes by way of the black market, but is grown in our state. A medicinal license enables a holder to grow up to 6 plants on their own. There are collectives, where basically someone is allowed to grow your herb for you and give you a percentage. Herb is not very profitable for the black market round these parts, which is why we're watching the price of bud drop A LOT. The drug czar*, I forget his name, was just here yesterday visiting with Dr. Drew and is proposing to take Prop 19 off the ballet, as it violates federal law. If it does pass, its gonna be hell for the growers, dispensaries, and all involved. Trust me, I have a vested interest in what happens with my pot usage, which is legal for me to use, and do not want to see things shaken up because "Yay! Pot is legal!" Ive been following this closely since it was first put on the ballot. It would serve you well to know whats going on as well.

As Ive stated before, this is not the year for legalization, we really need to work at changing the federal law first. Besides, how does legalized recreational pot in California bennefit you non-Californianites anyways? You should be working to legalize medicinal pot in your states. Once its legalized on that level practically everywhere across the nation, then we can talk about legal recreational use.

*edit - Federal drug czar, Gil Kerlikowske

Prop 19, while not perfect is absolutely a step in the right direction. California has long been a trendsetter state that the rest of the nation follows. Even if it's a show vote only (feds overrule it), it's still showing the feds that a majority of voters in the largest state in the union support legalization. That's a significant constituent and can only help the national level and increase momentum by showing the viability of the issue on a national scale.

That's all assuming that it doesn't actually do any of the things it's supposed to.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, every state of the union that allows voter initiatives on the ballots already has some form of medical marijuana. it's unlikely any other states will go medical for that reason alone, simply because it would require a politician to either win a seat solely on that issue (and be dismissed by "mainstream voters" as a fringe candidate) or for someone who is already in state office to risk upsetting the generally socially conservative folks who normally vote in state level elections. Realistically, if a candidate ran as a "medical marijuana candidate" in most states, the mainstream media would make an immediately mockery of him simply to uphold the status quo.

The same holds true on the federal level. You are never going to convince a majority of the senators and reps to go out on a limb on this issue until it is very clearly shown to be completely outdated on a state level. The only way to do that is to use the voter initiative states as a battleground on these issues.

Honestly, I'm guessing this prop 19 situation actually matters a lot MORE to most of us in non initiative states than it does to you guys out in cali. It really doesn't make much difference to you guys either way, since most of you smoke it with little to no worry about law enforcement. Where I live if I were to get caught with even some seeds or a burnt out roach I could get in some serious trouble and lose out on a lot of money and time. Currently a HUGE part of the population here still takes that risk because it's so much cheaper and less damaging than the other drugs on the market (including alcohol), and doesn't have any physically addictive properties so people figure even if they do get caught, they probably end up "ahead" in the long run. Still though, until we have some places in the U.S. that are making money and showing positive results from legalization, my own state has little hope for even mild steps towards decriminalization.

So yeah, it does matter to us, and the "I gots mine" crowd frustrate me to no end. It's a very stereotypical "stoner" attitude to say "well brah, I gots my weed, so why does it matter if we could make things a little easier and better for everyone else by simply going out to the polls and checking a box?"

im from california as well, so draw your own conclusions..
i hate when people hype up pot, make it seem like the greatest thing on the planet, but then again its not like i think its terrible. i like it, but my viewpoint is very odd. i do it because its a change from the norm, in other words, how can i tell whats right from wrong if ive only ever experienced things from one (sober) perspective? i tend to think a lot while im high, and i feel ive grown a lot as a person from it. not saying its great, not saying its terrible, but i wouldnt be the same person without it, and of course theres the age old cliche of stoner musicians... i really do think i play slightly different under the influence, not necessarily better but different, and i enjoy the change of perspective.. it helps me be, if that makes sense.
i personally dont care either way if prop 19 passes, because it wont affect medicinal use at all, and if it doesnt pass, its not like anyone has any trouble getting it either way, its stupid. IMO, they should legalize it simply for the economic principles, prohibiting it obviously hasnt worked, the law is a joke.
i will NOT use pipes tho. its a personal thing.

It is to my understanding that in the 1920's and 1930's, a huge smear campaign was run against marijuana by people who owned tree farms as they were losing money to hemp alternatives. They even adopted a latin-feeling name in order to give it a bad representation (not that latino people or culture is bad, I know two latino bros who are awesome metal shredders :D ).

If that is true, then marijuana should have been legalized decades ago. While I have smoked marijuana on and off for the past 6 years and enjoy it, I personally do not believe that it could be used as a cure for illness (in the future, maybe), however I absolutely believe that it is a better alternatve to many anti-biotics out there for operation recovery/treatment. Some of those store-bought medications contain far worse toxins for you than most illicit drugs and can destroy people's internal organs from prolonged use. However, when it comes to using it as treatment, I believe that it should be organicly grown (something I used to do). Alot of the hydro stuff you get is so inconsistent and quite often too strong for the people who would use it for pain treatment.

An example of this is a mate of mine had a bone marrow transplant about 2 years ago. About a month after his operation he was very ill all the time, he was always nauseous and weak and had lost about 40lb in weight. He went to his doctor who, off the record, said to try THC. He came to me (he is a non-smoker) and asked me to help him with it, so I baked him some cookies and a cake from ORGANIC marijuana. In a month, he put 15lb on, had re-gained his appetite and was feeling alot better. The medication he was on was causing his liver and kidneys to become infected. 6 weeks later, the infection had cleared up and he was almost back to full health.

My verdict - I believe that marijuana does have its merits and is effective for certain types of pain relief, but if it is to be legalized, there needs to be some kind of regulation of how it is grown and the THC purity.

Cheers,
Jordan

I read few notes on vape's...just remember kids...vape's are no good for using cannabis for medical reasons. It may be healthier for your lungs....but the vape doesn't allow you to receive all the beneficial ingredients that are in cannabis. That's why smoking or cooking is best for medical uses.

I prefer cooking best...as I'm not looking to get high....just feel better.

Carry on....

Watch the movie the poster is referencing. Its a real good job of exposing the reality behind this situation, and hopefully will open peoples minds enough to realize who is in control,(hint, its not the people).

I've never heard that. Can you provide a link to some reading material on that subject?

This is why you eat brownies, take a vape session, and then do bong rips afterwards. You get all the benefits...all at once.
