Cannabis

The guy from one of the best movies ever (The Conversation) does indeed beat the guy who got kicked in the chest by Kareem Abdul Jabar in an unfinished film.

Hackman's an actor. Bruce lee was a celebrity (and by all accounts, a very cool guy, just not a great actor).

Hackman was also in HAWK and 4 superman movies, Enemy of the State, Tennenbaums, behind enemy lines?, and last but definitely not least Unforgiven.

I still think Bruce Lee wins, because he is more influential. By a lot.

Prop 19? No way, it doesn't even go to vote 'til November, or at least that's what I'd heard.

Im not talking about Prop 19. Im talking about a decriminalization bill that has already been passed. Prop 19 is about legalizing pot for recreational use, not decriminalization.

Prop 19 is for the regulation, taxation, and control of marijuana.

Decriminalization is pretty passe by now, and has happened in several states including California.

Yup. At the moment possession will warrant you an infraction, a court date, a fine, and most likely a drug & alcohol awareness class. The bill passed by our governor reduces the penalty to nothing more than a fine.

Using this same logic, if Hitler had smoked a joint in the 20's or 30's then pot surely must cause people to be genocidal and exterminate millions of people.

It's thought that Hitler was a meth-head.

Hitler was taking daily injections of Morrell's "Vitamultin-Forte" which is understood to be an extremely powerful amphetamine coctail ... also thought to be the reason why he lost to the Russians.

Better watch out for those meth-addicts. :ninja:

... I'll hang out with the Rastafari any day. :smug: :D

Part of the reason pot "leads to other things" is the fact that bcause it is criminalized it's economy is black market where other things are readily available. If one never faced this and pot were just a regular purchase in a store, there would likely be no sense that people are going to seek out the cocaines and heroins of the world. One may call this "ploitical" but the politics are made of an inaccurate assertion about pot. There's nothing about it that says do heroin or w/e.

Pot has pluses and minuses as far as its uses go. One can experience a different presence of mind that just can't be summoned without the THC. And in that "mind" people can see things in perspectives that seem to have new value. But one can't have two pasts. If one lives a time as a stoner, he or she can't have lived the same time facing life on its own terms. Either it's one or the other and rewards seem to always favor those who face real life and keep struggling to outshine peers.

Another consideration is that THC is neuro-transmitter-disruptive. Because it causes dopamine to be spent which cannot be instantly replaced, marijuanna like other drungs tends to create dissatisifaction with sober life. One is creating the need for the drug by using it. This often results in a life of procrastination as people put off taking real constructive actions until they "feel right". Continued pot use ensures that they are either high or in the valley after being high wherefrom they get high again and keep repeating the high and the valley and the high over and over--feeling right with reality becomes out of reach while time marches on.
