Cannabis

True that, but as it is now, they arent doing much at this point in time. Im sure the threat from the Feds is a lot of smoke blowing, but Id really hate to see them up their involvement in Ca regarding the issue. As it stands now, with the decriminalization bill going into effect at the start of the new year, I don't think legalization is necessary, especially if their will be such a price to pay.

The feds have a hard enough time coming down on legal Medical Dispensaries. They do shut down a small percentage but as soon as they do, another one pops up somewhere else. It's a gigantic game of whack-a-mole!

How are they going to react if the number of people who can legally possess/use marijuana explodes exponentially?

I don't agree that pot is bad. In fact, I would have to say I love it. I don't smoke anymore, but that is because I know that smoking is bad for your lungs. They have THC in pills now and that is a healthy way to get high. But smoking is bad for your lungs and all, and no one can disagree with that. Pot isn't a "gateway drug." I believe above anything cigarettes should be illegal, then alcohol, and then pot. The government needs to get its priorities straight.

Also, how is a "Christian" nation going to ban something that isn't even manmade?? Nature (or God in my opinion) put it there. Who are we to ban it?

Not necessary?? Do you know how much the crime rate will decrease if we legalize pot? 50% of the black market would virtually die out, and the government would be making a huge profit off of taxes. Weed has been the biggest cash crop for the last bajillion years.

Realistically, decriminalization is only going to make the problem worse. Seems a bit bass ackwards to pass legislation that will theoretically increase the demand for a product while simultaneously keeping the supply of the product illegal. This just means that the black market will grow and become even MORE profitable than it already is.

Agreed.

You guys must not be from around here. Ya see, medicinal pot is already legal here in California. Most of our stuff no longer comes by way of the black market, but is grown in our state. A medicinal license enables a holder to grow up to 6 plants on their own. There are collectives, where basically someone is allowed to grow your herb for you and give you a percentage. Herb is not very profitable for the black market round these parts, which is why we're watching the price of bud drop A LOT. The drug czar*, I forget his name, was just here yesterday visiting with Dr. Drew and is proposing to take Prop 19 off the ballet, as it violates federal law. If it does pass, its gonna be hell for the growers, dispensaries, and all involved. Trust me, I have a vested interest in what happens with my pot usage, which is legal for me to use, and do not want to see things shaken up because "Yay! Pot is legal!" Ive been following this closely since it was first put on the ballot. It would serve you well to know whats going on as well.

As Ive stated before, this is not the year for legalization, we really need to work at changing the federal law first. Besides, how does legalized recreational pot in California bennefit you non-Californianites anyways? You should be working to legalize medicinal pot in your states. Once its legalized on that level practically everywhere across the nation, then we can talk about legal recreational use.

True enough. I suppose I wasn't really thinking about decriminalization as it specifically applies to the state of California so much as just making a general statement the topic.

You realize that we 'ban' natural things all the time, right? Just because it occurs in nature doesn't make it good or un-dangerous.

If your friendly with your doctor ask him he'll tell you its harmless I've had a few doctors check me out the past couple of years they all knew I smoked and they never warned me of any danger you need to look at this long but worth it. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Vape, cookies, brownies, smoothies..

I will never believe that 1 joint a night could be worse for you than McDonalds or any of the processed, unnatural or chemical products we constantly put into our bodies, though.

Sure, I can buy that. However, its the smoke that isnt good for your lungs, not the marijuana itself. You list some good bud alternatives to smoking. There are a lot of other ways to use pot these days. At the dispensaries you can buy THC hard candy, lollipops, baked goods, they even sell THC infused olive oil so you can cook with it or make a salad dressing.

With you on that one! Have you ever used a genie vape? I've yet to, but for size and price they're interesting, heard mixed reviews though.

I usually make my own cookies or brownies, would love to try making hard candy.
