Capacitor for Fender Super 55 J Pups?

I have a 2006 Fender Jazz, originally a Highway One model. It seems a previous owner did some mods, including installing Fender's Super 55 humbucking pickups. There was a problem with the tone pot, however: the tone went backwards, and with it wide open (in the position that should have been backed off all the way) I had volume even with both volume pots all the way down.

I think the problem is the capacitor on the tone pot, and I want to replace it. I'm not sure if the capacitor on it, marked 683J100V, is the correct one for these pickups. Anybody know anything?

That part number implies that it's a capacitor, not a resistor.

If the tone works opposite, a wire was soldered on to the wrong lug.

As for a resistor being used............do you mean capacitor? Normally, resistors are not used in the circuits.

The wiring checks out with the diagram for these pickups - which is not the standard diagram you posted.

Super 55s have an additional ground wire.
