Caprice Price Jump??

I think you can all blame @Dr. Cheese for starting this with the title he did Music Man Caprice: True Boutique Quality. He built the stadium, and they came :).
Let’s face it, Dr Cheese knows his basses and he has given me some solid advice on them on more than one occasion at every price level. His initial Caprice post did lead me to go out and try them for myself.

I think it no coincidence that I was seeking a Yamaha BB3000 passive in white when he posted on the Caprice and compared in directly to the Yamaha B.B. and Sadwosky .
He called the Caprice the baddest passive bass he had ever played with Sadowsky level quality .
I would have been a fool not to try them for myself being that his description sounded exactly like what Inwas looking for .
So glad that I found his statements to be true. I’ve never purchased an instrument so quickly in my life. I knew that the price would increase because eventually they always do. I also knew it might be in danger of not lasting long because anything out of the norm for a company usually does. Just like the Fender Dimensions series. I’ve seen it too many times before .
Thank God I purchased when I did.
Thanks Cheese for the lead.

So far crushing on the feel, tone, punch, and versatility of this baby.

Like mine? ;)

Sorry to revive a zombie thread... but I currently know (if it's still there) of a Caprice for $1200 that's "new" sort of... I've been lucky before at this store and walked out of that store with a great deal because they seem to have trouble moving basses at that store for some reason. I was curious about the price increase and wondering if I purchased an older model that I would be missing out on a big design improvement. Now it just seems like the increase was arbitrary so I'm really thinking about pulling the trigger on it...

I'd have a really hard time explaining it to the wife though... probably my biggest deterrent at this point.

.

Same model before or after price increase. EBMM raised prices across the board for everything.

Buy it. Great basses. Good price. Nothings changed.

I was quite I interested in a stingray neck through, but once I saw the price, I was immediately deterred. No offense to the whole Ernie Ball business or instruments, but once you start pricing a "factory" instrument around the same as where a lot of custom builds start, it makes sense to just pay an extra few hundred and get everything you want. I understand the business has to make money and all the costs associated with running one, especially in California, but I feel they are pricing out a lot of their customers, especially for a passive P with respect to the caprice/cutlass.
