Omega Monkey's points are all well taken. I simply posted from a maintenance point of view, disregarding the cost and environmental effects of higher energy use, heating and other consequences. Of course those things matter, but that wasn't what I addressed.

I was doing a little bit of practicing when I had to go take care of a problem. I left the music room and took care of the chore. I forgot I had left my amp on. It stayed on for 24 hrs. Before I remembered it. What kind of damage can I expect for being so careless?

I am so very grateful after reading all your comments...I came from a home where my dad followed us around and turned off the lights we left on all the while grumbling, "no wonder we are going broke!"
