was on ebay a couple of weeks ago and carl radles 1950s pbass for sale the one he used with derek and the dominos. Its buy now price was $20,000.was really worn but still real nice.If i only had the money.

No dummer than probably 90% of the older players on TB. It was easy to get basses in the 70's and even 80's than are seriously killer vintage pieces now (and easier to get rid of them). BTW, nice catch on CR's bass.. That does indeed looks like a tele bass with an added p-bass pickup. Killer!

I don't know if anyone here has ever seen "Tom Dowd & The Language Of Music". When discussing the recording of Layla, he solos the tracks and when gets to carl's part, you hear that great flatwound sound. Ah, the heat that Radle could create. yeah, he's missed.

Yep, he was an early user and endorser of the StingRay. Around 1976 or so, in a Guitar Player Magazine interview (there weren't any bass mags at all then) he said he had a Precision with a Jazz bass neck (that's the 'burst P with the blocks 'n' binding on a rosewood Jazz bass neck) and an Alembic. But he mentioned that he was also playing a new bass that was coming out that, in his words, sort of combined the best of the Fender and the Alembic, and that it was made by Leo Fender.
