Being able to , and actually doing it are not the same. I wonder if Dale Jr. uses ramps or jack stands when he changes the oil in his family car. LOL

She put TI's on her Ibanez bass, didn't she? They don't come stock with TI's. And she plays guitar and used the same Epiphone guitar for years and actually changed the strings on it.

Now what I find curious is how she calls setting the intonation a "myth." But come on...stop with the silliness...you don't play guitar and bass all your life and not know how to change a set of strings.

In Bass Culture, the book that features the Ox's bass and guitar collection, he writes that it was indeed a Jazz with Labella's. There's a pic of the jazz with a caption.

I read elsewhere that he originally was trying to record it with the Dano, but kept breaking strings.

I also read somewhere that he liked the strings on the Dano (which were an early type of roundwound) so much that he would buy another when a string broke because the only place the strings could be found were on Dano's.

There's a well known story about Bob Glaub having the Labella strung Precision bass he had recorded numerous hits on stolen from him. He placed an ad saying something to the effect of "Keep the bass, but PLEASE return the strings!".

I wouldn't have worded it that way, but, I was thinking the same thing... I WISH I could come up with half his bass lines - think about "can't hurry love" - it's almost zen in its simplicity and yet when you REALLY listen to it there's all these crazy random notes that you would never think to throw in there and they give it that "bounce" in a way that straight roots (or roots and 5ths) would never have done all while not distracting from the melody or vocals and (sadly) drunk out of his mind.
