carvin b1500 through schroeders

live the down the street from the musicians friend clearance center, walked in sat and saw 2 schroeder 21012light cabs sitting in the corner marked down to 300 bucks a cab, they sell for 1069.00 a cab on mf,needless to say i tried them out and snagged them:) called schroeder cabs sunday afternoon with some questions and got a hold of jorg.He suggested that i buy a carvin b1500 to power the cabs,he said he uses one.ive been looking for a good head and am willing to spend about 1000.carvin was not on my radar at all ,dont know anything bout them.I was looking at a tube or tube preamp head but ive read some good reviews on the b1500(i know it has no tubes).no one sells carvin around here so i cant try one out.anybody know anything bout these heads?i play rock, loud rocking country and blues.thanks

Try asking here:

Amps, Mics & Pickups [DB]

That is, if you're wanting to amplify your DB. From you're profile, I'm guessing...

If so, here's a way back home:

I own a Hartke, have owned an Eden and a SWR - not cool but I kept the best amp. A friend of mine has a Carvin and its great. The resale value is sad, but why sell a good sounding, reliable amp? Enjoy, and take care of your ears.

if by DB you mean double bass my profile doesnt say anything about a double bass,if db means something else please let me know?:ninja:

Yes, DB means double bass. You posted here on the double-bass side of the house under "Double Basses." Indeed, your profile doesn't mention anything about a double bass. I figured posting in this forum wouldn't net you the answers you need very easily.

If Ken Jung were here, he'd say that... 'the wide, deep, powerful voicing of the B1500 is an excellent match for the tight, punchy, midrange-intensive voicing of the Schroeders', and that...'as you turn up the volume on the B1500, the Schroeders open up and get deeper, yet remain tight and punchy - even at high volume...'

Or something to that effect... :smug:

It'll be great and save you a lot of bucks. I'd recommend buying new. QC on Carvin stuff is not quite what it is at some of the other places so you'll be wanting that warranty :)

Edit: That's not to say it's not good, but I've heard of a few issues with the B1500 that cause me to think one would be better off with a warrantied one -- obviously not enough for me to suggest you go with something more expensive if you don't have a mad-on for something already.

Played 2 gigs with the B1500 thru a BRX10.4 neo cab, simple to use. The sub bass is a cool, can really dial in some super lows. Built like a tank, a little heavy at around 40 lbs, but solid and very durable, reliable. I only wish that I had a compressor to use with it, because I like my notes to sound really even and to control the highs and lows a little bit, but all in all it's a very good power amp and for the price it's a steal.

right now running pv firebass 700 through the schroeders, pretty bland sounding.is there going to be a big difference between the carvin and pv?if the carvins are that good and that cheap i may pick one up and get a little mark3 to power one of the cabs for smaller gigs. thanks for your input friends!:)

I've got a PV Firebass 700 that I've used for rehearsal the past 7 yrs, the Carvin B1500 blows it away hands down. I think the para's on the PV are aweful, I can't dial in any punch at all with mine:rollno: and I'm running the PV thru a TVX 4x10 cab. Go with the Carvin, you won't be disappointed.:smug:
