Carvin BRX10.2 Cabinet

Here's my dilemma , I use to own the Redline series cabs back in the 90's. a 2x10 cab and single 15" cab. I wasn't really impressed by them. Sounded sort of empty and boxy. Now I find myself needed more cabs , and the BRX line seems cool with the 600 watt rating. Is there anyone who can compare the new Carvin cabs with their old cabs? I normally wouldn't give a company a second chance once I'm turned off but recently (with a lot of persuasion from TB'ers ) bought a Carvin bass and it really has changed my outlook of the company. This is a great SB5 bass, I'm just not so sure they improved their cabs so much.

IMHO the brx cabs are very much improved over the old Redline cabs. Much better.

There's a 10 day trial also in case you just don't dig it. But I understand that you'll be out shipping if you decide to return.

Good luck,
Liam

I have a brx10.2 Neo and love it! Been using it for two years. I recently was lucky and found a brx10.4 Neo used and the two combined with my 7 string conklin is a force to be reckoned with!!!!! Btw powering those cabs is my Carvin Bx1500 head.

What brand of speaker is carvin using in their Brx cabs? Eminence perhaps?? I've checked their website but they don't say much , only that its a 300 watt heavy duty 56oz magnet speaker.

I too am using one BRX10.2 with the BX1500 head. The cabinet has a much deeper sound than one would expect. At the gig on Saturday my friend said exactly that "shaking the floor". I've got the Neos.

I guess you are right. A lot of times you get jazzed by younger guys when you are an old musician. I think some younger players don't stop to think that they will be retired some day and hopefully still playing. We play blues (SRV, BB King, Muddy Waters, etc). For being older guys we don't have any trouble getting frequent, decent paying gigs.

I don't know if I speak for other young people, but I don't rag on old musicians. They've got as much to offer as someone young, and most of my favorite bands are older musicians.

I finally took a chance on a used BRX10.2 via Guitar Center for $200. Despite rave reviews here on TB, I was skeptical, but GC's 30 return policy gave me peace of mind if I didn't like it. This is my first 2x10 cab and it's no joke!!! Eventhough it's heavy for a 2x10 cab compared to a lot of the newer light-weights available, I'm very impressed with the construction and the sound! Compared to my Genz Benz NX2-212T, it doesn't seem to sound as big, but the Carvin seems to have a more balanced sound while still kicking out some serious low end. It's a keeper and a steal for the money!!!

I'll say it again. Carvin makes great gear. I had a BX500 and 2 BRX10.2NEO cabs for 7 years and they were great. Just sold them to fund the purchase of my Mesa Subway D800 and 2 115 cabs. There was nothing wrong with that setup. I just wanted the Mesa. I still have a BX250, a BX1500 and a 112AG cab.

I've been using a Carvin B1500 with a Barefaced 2x12 for a few gigs and it seems to be working great. I used to have a BRX410 (with the neos) that also was great but I wanted something lighter. My PA setup is also all Carvin and I've never had any problem with it.
