Carvin BX1200

Sorry to hear that, man.

I just played my bx1500 tonite for the first time and had no problems whatsoever.

One suggestion I might make is to change EVERYTHING except the amp.

Perhaps go to a rehearsal studio and use a different bass, different guitar cable and different cab and then see what happens. Seems very strange that you have the same exact problem with a new amp. There has to be a reason for it.

Well, I mentioned earlier in this thread that my BX1200 seemed to get a bit hot/warm after my gigs, although it never shut down on me. Well, it seems now that I'm using the Effects Loop, my amp seems to run cooler. So no more popping noises and no more hot/warm amp!

Plus, it never hurts that I keep getting compliments about my tone.

Well, guys, I started having issues with my BX1200 today. The output is significantly lower, and it's giving me a very "farty" sound. At first, I thought maybe it was the instrument cable, so I tried another, and the sound was the same. Next, I thought maybe it was the bass I was using, so I tried my other bass, and, again, the sound was the same. Hmmm... Well, maybe it's the cab, so I'll try my backup head. All was well. I rehooked the BX1200, and I continued getting that "farty" sound and lower output. :crying:

I've contacted Carvin...

Anxiously awaiting arrival of Bx1200 I got from a fellow TBer. I will be using it with my Accugroove "El Whappo". Looking forward to hearing it. Hope I dont get any of the issues that some of you have posted about. I will keep yas posted.

i love mine. versatile. works with many cab configurations. built like a tank. powered like a tank. can dial in lots of sound. my friends have said that blindfolded they would think it was an ampeg...although a ton more money. people are obsessed with brand names around here, and let that influence their judgment. oh well, their loss.

If anyone has experience with the BX1200 and BX500/1500, feel free to chime in. Im currently using a BX500. Was thinking about finding a used BX1200, and had 2 questions. How similar sounding is the preamp in the BX500/1500 vs the BX1200? Is the power section of the lighter version of the BX1200 still class AB, i.e not class D?
