Carvin BX500... Should I buy one???

In 2003,I got a Carvin Redline,used for 100 buck$.Since then ,I only spent 70 bucks in a blown capacitor.So I,m talking at least 12yrs for 70 bucks!.If it blows,I will just spend another 70 bucks!Or buy me another Carvin .

I actually had someone here on Talkbass who was going to sell me one (at a great price), however I had two people back out on items they were buying from me. Hence no funds at this time. As soon as I have the funds I will get one.

IMHO: one should try to get a preamp/poweramp set up.
My set up is a Demeter 201 with QSC plx1104.
What I like about this is I can crank the pre and control the overall volume with the power amp. if I need a bigger rig I just add a cab to the other side of the power amp. Works for me. I have used GKs, Ampegs, etc... all great but my current set up really sounds great.

Pre/power rigs are nice, but sometimes (small gigs, solo practice, etc.) the right answer is a small portable head. I have both the BX500 and a couple of pre/power racks. Each has their place.

Get it. I got the Carvin BX1200 a couple years ago. No issues, and I haven't GASed for a new amp since. Carvin might get some bad rap, but they are a fantastic company. Also, the customer support I got was top of the line.
