Im just like everyone else. Money's a little tight right now with the economy, on top of that, I just had to replace my refrigerator.

When Carvin introduced the Icon, I thought they had finally got it right... So, I kid you not, I drove with all haste to the San Diego factory store to check it out - hoping that they FINALLY got it right...
They sure look Nice... And they sure are built well... But every one I've picked up felt "off" or "dead" and sounded like... bleh. I really wanted to want one...

To be honest, I had the same impression when I got mine. After a little work on the nut, and some experimenting with different strings, (DR Highbeams really shine) it all came together for me.
Tell me - one thing I found about the Icons that I've played is that they felt as if they had *zero* fretboard radius... so they were oddly uncomfortable to play - - did you find that (hence the nut work)??
That could be it. I think they use a 12" radius on their basses. I'm used to playing Rickenbackers though. I think a Rick is 10" radiused, not much different.
I ordered an IC5 exactly 2 months ago to the day...so I expect it should be arriving any time

Just got my IC6 a few weeks ago...
Having just moved up from a 4 string, I'm in love... What more can I say? haha
I actually got her from the 'guitars in stock' part of the website. I'm really happy with her... There was a small issue with the build, but it has been resolved by Carvin. I'm still in the separation phase of the repair, but we'll be reunited come monday. haha I've been lusting for her so bad I decided to buy a new amp...

Anyone have sound clips available. There is next to nil available on Youtube or even on the Carvin Channel...there are only interviews with Icon users, but not the bass being played.
The Icon just seems like an awesome bass, but i have no idea what it sounds like, either with soaps or the J99A's...\

The "no luv" thing has always been about the tone for me, I've owned a total of 3 over the years but just couldn't ever come to grips with how they sounded.
I ran into Sekou Bunch recently, he's a great session/sideman player who is a Carvin endorser (we have the same tech) and told him my story. He advised me to try the new Sb4000 since I'm a Jazz guy and that it would change my mind.
Haven't gotten around to that yet.
