I think ipe is a bit too red-brown to match walnut. I vote rosewood again.

Could you just sand and polish the rosewood with no added oil or finish at the end? Is it a naturally oily wood, or does it tend to be dry when not oiled?
I usually treat all fretboards to keep them from drying out either fretted or fretless and that usually makes them darker then the fresh cut or sanded wood. And for porous woods to keep then from loading up with filth.
That sucks. I think the rosewood looks better but you're right, the oil makes it really dark.

I'm still on the rosewood train too. I like the dark contrast it'll provide.

The rosewood seems to be the right hue to accent the darker lines in the walnut. I'm already drooling.

A pretty simple setup for re-cutting the carbon fiber rod channels. Just a thick piece of lexan with a channel to fit a router guide and a round nose 1/4" bit. Double side taped to the neck and done. I'll use the same setup to route the truss rod channel once the rods are glued in.

Totally understood. I need something right now to distract me from the flooding, washed out road, disrupted infrastructure and food and gas shortages. Anything would be nice. Panic buying is still a thing.
