Carvin SB5000 / SB4000 Roll Call...Part 2!

I guess I play a lot of sustained notes when finger playing and don't like to hear fret buzz. Also for slap, I need the string to have some distance from the fret to get a good percussive tone out it. That's what I meant. If I was doing the Rocco Prestia thing, I could lay the strings on the neck and be fine I'm sure.

For the new thread:
I got my SB5000 on 6/22/10, I guess that makes it about 3 weeks at this point. I've a few gigs in with it now with a couple of bands and its my favorite bass. Getting lots of positive feedback on it from soundmen and other musicians I play with.

Since its a new thread, I thought I would bring my clips over so I can find them easier:

I was out for two weeks on the Dreamgirls Tour subbing for my buddy Jason Langley (BiggReddBass here on TB). My SB5000 smoked! We used in-ears and no amps but the tone was nice and full! Sound man & the other band members really dug the tone!

It's good to hear from you again, Carl. We are still patiently waiting for your review of the SB5000-when you're not so busy!!!

I had both pickups on full most of the time. I did solo the bridge pickup a couple of times throughout the show and had no hum.

The tour was great! It was a last minute call and only got the book the night before my first show but I got through it.

I'm sure there are MANY folks who really have wanted to dig a Carvin bass but, until now, found them lacking.

Once I know my finances are in order, and I do *one more* noodle session up at the Carvin factory store, I'm going to order one...

Of course, then come all the damned options... ! :eek:

Okay, wait a sec. Let me make sure I got this right:

4 knobs:

master vol
master tone
mid/sweep - stack
treb/bass - stack

Now I think Kwesi confirmed this set up (correct me if I'm wrong Mr. K!). So if this is right, then why couldn't there be a master vol and master tone cut in passive mode? After all, without the mid/sweep option, you get vol/vol/tone cut in passive mode; right?

Most Carvin stack volume/passive when in passive bypass the tone knobs. Unless they change it.
