Carvin SB5000 / SB4000 Roll Call...Part 2!

After reading through both of these threads....which took a few days I am heading to the Carvin store in Santa Ana on Saturday morning to play a few SB4000's and most likely place my order for one
My Warwick Vette Bubinga that I recently purchased sounds amazing with the Delano JMVC's I put in there but it is just way to heavy for my back at close to 12 lbs...I found this out after going to practice with some friends. I'm a prior owner of a 89 thumb NT Bubinga that I regret I had to sell 3 years ago...Now I realize after 3 years and turning 40, my back doesn't like Bubinga anymore

Been customizing my SB4000 all week on the Carvin site
I should be able to get a light boutique style bass that sounds great with all these options available. Narrowed it down though.

Looking forward to seeing more photos of the Bass's coming soon.

Well after using my SB5000 for awhile now I'm really not happy with it, I love the tone and playability of the bass but I can't stand the body shape at all. That upper horn on the bass is killing me.

I put it up for sale and going to use my Carvin BB75 which I love plus it's lighter then the 5000. Oh well that the way it go and if anyone want to trade a XB75 hit me up. I guess you can take me off the list.

When I'm sitting it's poke me in the chest and I have to readjust the bass on my leg. I'm old school and can get used to the horn pointing up.

The wait is over, the big brown will be here on Friday unfortunately, I will be away at a conference until Saturday afternoon. Thats ok I'll be able to try it out at church on Sunday.

Here is what I'm looking to go for, the headstock is a little larger that than real deal but you get my jest. After I did some photo editing I think I'll stay with the SB HS and not dots.

I know this bass has been out for a while, but I'm finally getting around to doing a review. They sent me an SB5000 with:

• ash body
• flamed maple top
• Honey Burst w/matching SB headstock
• Cream colored J99As
• Gold Hardware
• Birdseye board

When I saw the bass in an ad, my first impression was a little muted. The body looked weird to me, and the headstock? Nah. But after playing this for a week... I'm smitten. This is definitely the best sounding Carvin I've ever played, and some may recall I was a Carvin endorser for many years. I have owned and played a boatload of Carvins!

Now, I'm really digging the look of it, and seriously considering pulling the trigger on one for myself. The review bass sounds awesome, forget about comparing it to other Carvins, this thing really does stand up to basses that are 4x as expensive. They totally nailed the Jazz bass tone without making yet another clone. I'm curious about the Icon HS option, while the body is now speaking to me, not sure about the SB HS. Although... there is a certain flow to it, adding a different HS kind of messes with the design. Ah, anyway... I'm loving this bass, I'm finishing up the written review for GW, and look forward to shooting the video.
